Post Summit Viper Elite SD Review

    Rating 10 out of 10

Went out on the new Summit Viper Elite SD. GREAT stand! I'm not sure how a stand can get much better. Considering the areas and short cuts that have to be taken in order to achieve a 16lb stand, this stand is PHENOMINAL!
    Very light!
    Built like a tank!
Easily connected to tree, packed, & unpacked.
    Nice sound deadening material!
Grabs the tree nice and feels very secure.
Very easy to climb up and down!

2 areas that are good and very acceptable but not great....
the shoulder straps are good, nice camo color, operate well but are not the most comfortable.
The seat is mesh or a cloth material. Good and strong with reinforced straps underneath but I've noticed it could get a little uncomfortable after 7-8 hours of sitting. But with that said.... 7-8 hours doing anything can be uncomfortable. I've never sat on anything for that amount of time without having some aches or cramps of some kind.

My personal rating 10 out of 10!

After going out this year on opening day. I climbed up in my old deer stand and was reminded why I said I need a new one.

I currently have an old steel Strong Built, Inc stand that was built in my home state. Waterproof, LA. Who is also out of business because of injury lawsuits.
    It weighs about 35lbs.
It has NO side grip on the tree. Only 2 half inch spikes that are in the very center about 2" apart. So when you step on the side it will easily flip you. It almost happened and I almost got to test out my new Hunter Safety System harness!
Its 16lbs, round tubing, tubes are filled with expanding foam for quietness, powedwr coated with camo colors, and should be a pretty decent stand.
Its normally a $400+ stand. Got it for 280 free shipping. VMINNOVATIONS.Com

No problem! I was looking on ebay last week and I think they were still 300+. Saw it for 269.99 shipped and snagged it this morning as fast as I could. Did a search on here to share the love. Hope we both enjoy it, looks great. Seller has 14 day money back too, so that's nice just incase.

I believe the place out of Ohio is where I bought my Viper SD for 230 dollars brand new and shipped. Pretty nice place.

Yea, VM Innovations is out of Nebraska. They have a really good customer service department. Pretty good feedback too. They are a powerseller on ebay so that typically means they take care of their customers.

The stand is a great stand. When you get it you may want to do 1 alteration before you use it. At AutoZone or Advanced you can this round tube of grey and black 2 part putty steel. When you mix them they harden like steel. Buy some of this and take 2 very small pieces and mix them and place them on the inside of this areaimage 3.jpeg

The tubes that your cables go in..... on the inside of the tube if you put your finger in the hole and rub the top side you will feel sharp metal...... this will tear your plastic from your cables in 3 uses. Mine are shredded. I called Summit and the guy told me to sand it down with a dremel or something and they should be fine. Sanding them will not work. It is a cut out that has been made in manufacturing to hold the pieces together. They use a stamping tool and it leaves a hole with sharp edges that needs to be filled with something.

Thanks for the info. Those cables look bad for being so new! I have some of that putty so ill be putting it to use when my stand gets here. I'd send those pics to Summit or call them again cause the cable from my 7 y.o. stand isn't much worse.

You know.... I think I will in fact call... WOW While I was typing this I called them and the lady that answered said...... Does it have spurs on the inside of the tubes....? I said yes. She said have you filed those down? I said no. She said, Go file them down and I will send you some new cables right now. I said OKAY!. She said you should have your new cables in 3-4 days sent UPS ground. WOW!!!!!!

    Summit has my vote!!!!

Nice! I never stop at one call. Sometimes all it takes is a different person on the other end to make all the difference. I'll have my dremel tool warmed up for mine. Lol! Thanx again for the 411.

    Cool

U may still want to fill the backside slots with some putty steel so that the ferrels don't catch. I'll be doing it after I file mine down.

I'm actually sitting in it up in a tree right now. It's nice

Call them and tell them. I never had to raise my voice. It was literally a 45second phone call after I reached someone.

It was almost like she was expecting my call. Hmm

Is it possible to put an older style seat on this stand?
