Question Rangefinder question: nikon riflehunter 550 or bushnell scout 1000 arc?

So time for a new rangefinder. These are the main two I am interested in. I dont want the archery huner model cause I want more range and I am interested in the models with angle compensation since I hunt some steep stuff. I liked my nikon prostaff 440 but like an idiot I lost it elk hunting so now I am in the market for a new one.

I am mainly an archery hunter but rifle hunt occaisionally.

Anyway help me out here. If you have experience with these give me the good and bad. Accuracy? Battery life? glass? Durability? Use? Work through shooting mesh? etc.

    Thanks

Check out the Leupold rx1000i TBR. I don't personally own one but have used them quite a bit and they are pretty sweet. IMO one of the best TBR rangefinders on the market now.

Rangefinder question: nikon riflehunter 550 or bushnell scout 1000 arc?

I dropped my nikon 550 last week from 25 ft. It hit a log hard enough to chip the plastic case. Still working fine. Ive had it 3-4 years. Never a problem.

    Cool "bushnell arc !)))"

I have the BUSHNELL ARC 1000 and I think it's the ACE OF SPADES of FINDERS!! Don't want to go into really heavy details(get'n ready to go get in a tree) but for BOW OR GUN it tells you so much! Bow mode tells you what to shoot for and Gun mode tells you your hold-over for your load!! Must see one to REALLY APPRICATE IT! GOING TO THE TIMBER,later!!

I have the new Nikon Prostaff 5. It is the smallest Nikon made, and it is awesome.

I just bought one of these. Its the cats arse or range finders. I marked out 7 or 8 distances from 10-around 100 yards with a long measuring line. The range finder was spot on exact for all of them. Also you can see the reading no matter how dark it is because its all lit up.

I'm not sure if they have changed this or not but I had the arc a couple years ago and it got wet and ruined it. Returned it for the Nikon since it was waterproof.

Owned Both, Bushnell Scout ARC 1000 is by far superior. If you get on their website and choose your load and rifle, there are modes preprogrammed into the scout for that exact load. Amazingly light and never fogs up unlike the nikon! Scout all the way!

I liked how the Leupold lit up bright too. And it was fast.

Are they both water proof? I like by Nikon 550 way better than the cheaper bushnell I had before.

    Nebraska will beat Michigan.
You can't shoot a big one if you shoot a little one first.

Rangefinder question: nikon riflehunter 550 or bushnell scout 1000 arc?

I love my nikon 550. My buddy has a bushnell arc, not sure which model but it goes to 800-1000 yds. He doesn't like it. When I used it I couldn't get a reading on anything past about 400yds unless it was reflective. If the elk had tin foil antlers that would be fine but otherwise it's pretty much useless.
