    Chaos sling alternative

Anyone have any ideas for an alternative to the lo-ready sling?

I'm thinking a sling stud could be added to the stock easy enough but not sure what to do about the other end. Was curious if attaching to the foot stirrup would work?

    In the CBN I posted:

"it would be nice if there were other sling attachment points to allow use of a "regular" sling for those beltless days. Has anyone come up with a way to attach a regular sling.....without doing anything to the bow to void the warranty?"

I haven't seen any alternatives yet, but Dave did come back and say:

"If you choose to install sling swivel studs to your crossbow, provided you didnt attach them to the trigger housing, your warranty would not be voided."

I'll try this again...... I posted it this morning and it vanished.

Installing Moon style :-) sling swivel studs on a CamX Chaos 325:

You will need 1 Uncle Mike's machine 10-32 threaded swivel stud. They come with a nut to secure the stud in the buttstock. You will have to cut off some length of the screw with a hack saw. Drill a hole through the stock (should not void warranty - call CamX:-) just large enough to push the threaded stud through the stock. For right shoulder carry, intall the stud on the left side of the stock. It can be switched to the other side for left shoulder carry. Install the threaded nut on the back side using a small washer and you are through with that end.

The CamX's foot stirrup is attached by 2 10-24 cap screws on each side of the barrel/riser. Remove the screw towards the rear of the crossbow on the side you want to install the swivel stud. Now comes what could be a problem for you (I'm sure you will find a way:-). The screw that you remove is10-24 threaded so an Uncle Mike's machine threaded swivel stud won't work. What I do is to use one of the wood screw threaded studs, file the threads down a bit and then run that screw through a 10-24 threading tap, then cut the length down just a bit and screw it in.

very nice Moon. I should have known you would come up with something.

I'm not ready to try this yet as I don't mind just carrying my bow without a sling. I don't have that far to walk. Hopefully I will find some new property that will require me to walk farther.

The only time I use the sling is when I'm walking to and from my stands or when I'm just walking around looking for deer sign. It's nice on those long treks out of the woods after dark, with my hunting bag on my back and flashlight in hand:-)

What about a tactical rifle sling? Seems similar to the lo-ready sling but without attaching something to your belt.

I will for sure share my experience.
