    Re: Hey Nuts &Bolts!

Sooo at 30 ft I can split the string with bare shaft and fletch shaft. But when I go outside and move back to 20 yds. My bare shaft starts to go right. I have read several different instructions contradicting each other . Soooo my question is which strings do I need to twist or is is a form issue?
Because I want to fine tune my draw length right? So to adjust my draw length I would twist my bow string? Or do I twist my yoke cables on 1 side or the other which would adjust my cam lean?

Thanks alot for dedicating your time to helping people like me. I changed my draw length almost 1/2 in.

I pushed my bareshaft shooting out to ten yards!! Well 25ft...I found it little harder to split the string everytime farther back(working on consistency)...

2nd and 3rd shot both hit the first arrow with the broken knock.....

REALLY NICE shot at 10 yards.
That is really HARD to do.

    So,
if you are having troubles at 20 yards,
    then,
a 15 yard pic would be nice..

    and
a 20 yard pic would be very helpful.

Need to see a HEAD to toe photo of you at full draw,
    arrow DEAD level.

What bow are we talking about?

So I was working on getting you some pics today. I went down to the basement and shot at just under 10 yds before I went out side. Went to make my fourth shot when my d loop broke! I was in the middle of drawing back my bow and cracked my self in the jaw. I can't believe my arrow was fine. guess I better get that fixed.

Yikes. Had a release explode once arrow went in the pond. I shoot over it at 40 or more yards. So now you have re micro adjust your DL?

When you have the time i have a few questions.

I have a new to me Vector 35 #3 cam bow that i swapped to #2 cams to fit my draw of 28". Bc of deflection of the limbs should i expect a decrease in poundage once i get it to specs?

Also i ordered some custom strings from a builder on AT. I got them on last night and my top cam was about an inch from hitting at full draw when i my bottom cam was touching. I did the neccessary twisting untwisting etc and its close but my control cable look undertwisted now. I removed all strings and cables and they measure about 3/16 short (didnt have it at 100 lbs of tension). Is this something that i will fight as long as i have these set of strings or will they stretch enough or measure out closer to spec under tension?

I guess I will have to start over. A new dloop will change my draw length. I never had to twist my strings the first time. I was pretty good out to 10 yds. Guess I just got lucky from the bow shop.

A new d loop could change your anchor point but draw length will remain the same

If you have a ceiling hook/bicycle hook
then put the top end loop on the hook
and then attach something heavy, like a tool box to the bottom end loop.

Now, measure again, and let's get a better idea about length.

Talk to your custom string maker, after you get a measurement under at least SOME tension.
Double check that the #2 cam and your DL module and your draw stop match.

    So,
if you are using the "C" draw length module,
CONFIRM that your draw stop is also in the "C" position.

Top cam 1 FULL INCH away from hitting at full draw,
seems like a LOT of gap.

Hoyt scaled the 3 sizes of RKT cams..
    to be proportional..

so, you may not notice much draw weight change.

Just to make sure im understanding the kitchen sink and creep tuning correctly, these two tuning methods eliminate the need to paper tune bc they are correcting the sideways and vertical nock travel that paper tuning would show?

Kitchen Sink Tuning is a step by step recipe,
which will dial in your sight windage for your pins or scope dot...

will have you START at factory centershot

will have you TEST your draw length,
and have you TRY minor adjustments to sideways nock travel with the yoke cable legs
and have you make MAJOR adjustments to sideways nock travel, by adjusting your bow DL
    ...say 1/16th inch or
    ...say 1/8th inch or
    ...say 3/16ths inch or
    ...say 1/4 inch or
    ...say 5/16ths inch or
    ...say 3/8ths inch or
    ...say 7/16ths inch or
    ...say 1/2 inch or
    ...say 9/16ths inch or
    ...say 5/8th inch or
    ...say 11/16ths inch or
    ...say 3/4 inch or
    ...say 13/16ths inch or
    ...say 1-INCH shorter or
    ...say 1.5-inches SHORTER or
    ...say 1.75-inches SHORTER....(don't laugh...it has happened).

Creep Tuning will flatten the vertical nock travel,
get your arrow groups much SHORTER than before.

    With Kitchen Sink,
    we check practically EVERYTHING,
and have a step by step
    organized test
to tweak the arrow rest (during long range testing at 20 yards)
to tweak the sight pins windage (during point blank shooting at 5 FEET)
to check to see if we can correct bareshaft point of impact at 5 FEET..tweaking the yoke cable legs
to check to see if we need MAJOR corrections to bareshaft point of impact at 5 FEET, tweaking the bow DL modules or the twists in the string itself.

    Very thorough.
The recipe is organized in a particular order, for a reason.

    Paper tuning is another method.
