Anyone shooting X cutters wondering if I can get away with them without using cable spreaders? Don't really want to run spreaders. I know my fatboys where pretty close but I dont have my bow yet to see if X cutters fit. thanks!

Using my DSt 40 for 3d so I don't really want a ton of drag shooting open class out to 50 yards. But From what I hear its good to have a decent sized vane on them to stabilize the stiffer arrow. Just wondering if someone has shot one with X cutters or maybe has some X cutters laying around and can see how they fit between the cables with no spreaders. Hmm maybe I'll call borkholders tomorrow and see if they have any laying around they can test fit for me :D

Just checked my full bores, I believe same diameter as xcutters 27/64", with 3 2.25" quickspins, they clear the cables.

Forgot about these, excellent choice here also, may be trying these on my full bores if I decide to shoot them.

I am currently using FFP-225's on my CXL's for 3D and like them a lot
Thanks if full bores clear they should clear no problem X cutters are 25/64s My fatboys are 23s.

I shot a 450 league this past winter,I was not sure that I was not getting some contact on an occasional left/right misses on the ten ring. I was using the Victory xcutters they are very close to the cables. If you have seen a slow motion video of bow shot you could see the possibility of contact. I think I will get a good set of spreaders before the next league season. I shot gold tip 22serisies for 3-D no probelem. They give better speed.

just rather not run em if i dont have to is all. heck i dont even know when ill get the bow. it's been forever lol. First national shoot is in 2 weeks i was hoping to have it near the start of april :( so I could have a month with it to get used to it.

I have the Barnsdale spreaders from my Accuriser2's, makes the cables too wide on the center, this why I don't use them.
So I have re-fletched all my plumbing pipes to FF low profile and clears. btw the FF I've got is 227 so the length is good even for longer distance outdoors.
I have not seen the OK spreaders yet, shall email Chris for info. I may have a good use for FITA (not to clear the fletching :) ) but for increased cable stop....shooting practice and tournament hundreds of arrows, at the end of the day there is a fatigue in arms, good to have a bit more solid "wall".

using arrow scraps and nocks is a dirt cheap way to verify that you really need/want spreaders......they work the same as the machined ones (probably better because you can adjust the width), only thing is they might look crude compared to the machined ones. I'll admit, if I end up needing them, then I will use my doovawappi's or buy another set. But that would just be aesthetics, nothing more.

Fletched up some X cutter pro's with a 4 fletch and Flex fletch 225s. They should give me more clearance then my fatboys with X vanes on them. Well they measure smaller width wise anyways. They where shooting so good out of my Specialist I wanted to setup my rest up for them. busted a nock the first group i shot with them. Now I just need my DST 40 to get here. I Have named it The Unicorn As I am still not sure if it really exists but i hear a lot of stories and have seen pictures of it. Stuck in customs still :( But soon I am hoping to be shooting it.

I was using a low profile 3 inch vanetec on my my triplex gold tips... they had just enough clearance to not need the spreaders.... That being said, Hugo installed a set of the Barnsdale spreaders for me and this gave plenty of clearance and i really liked the feel of the stop with them installed.... The stop felt much more "dead" if you will... Also, the bow shot just as well, so with the big shafts i personally would use them!

If you don't like them, just take em back off... They are pretty cheap in the scheme of things!.

I've gone to ultralight pro 600's and have found this to be a much more forgiving setup than my previous "fat shaft" setup... I left the spreaders on until i recently changed strings. I'm still considering putting them back on, as the feel of the stop was so much more "solid" (they squeeze the cables closer together such that the draw stops hit the cable dead center) Also, they chronographed the same with or without them!

Give em a try,

yours in archery,
