Second week in November always seems to be the best action for me.

Nov 6th through the 12th. No matter the weather or moon phase you need to be in a tree in Ohio!

It's going to be a late rut this year.

Most years, it hits somewhere in the first two weeks of Nov.
This year, it's going to be in the last two weeks of Nov.

For you Non Residents - the peak time will be the last week in December!!!!!! Ha!
You really cannot go wrong the first ten days of November. I see way more buck movement - cruising - seeking - during the immediate pre rut than I do during the lockdown days.

I'd go the second week. I've had luck the first week but it's either hot or cold.

For me the fist week is the best, but it varies from year to year. That is why I never schedule the entire week off, I like to sprinkle my days in when I feel the weather and conditions are right.

First week this year is new moon so it should put more of the initial seeking activity in daylight hours.

That's because every year he predicts the rut will happen during the first two weeks of November. I bet he predicts Christmas will happen on December 25th this year.

Im guessing the pre-rut will be last week of october and first week of november.
Then the full rut will hit 2nd week of november..
Just like it has been every other year.

    Spot on.

I've kept notes over the last 15+ years and I see the most mature daylight buck movement between Nov. 5th and Nov. 12th.

there may be variables that bump it a little earlier or later each year, but if you have a choice of hunting or not hunting the 1st 2 weeks of november, choose hunt

Moon? Daylight hours? Lots of good material and opinions. I'm gonna split the middle at 8-15 Nov.
    Best of luck!

Being a non resident of Ohio. I like the last week of Oct in Ohio. For the simple reason there isn't hardly anyone hunting that week. I killed a good buck on the Tranquility Wildlife Area last year. And I bet we didn't see maybe three other trucks hunting all week. Now the day we left it looked like flies arriving for a picnic with all the hunters showing up. I talked to a buddy of mine who was there the first week of Nov. And he said Tranquility was covered up with hunters.

There's nothing to predict . It happens every year at the same time.

I'd be more concerned about the weather.

1st , 2nd or 3rd week of Nov will all be good. Nov will be good until gun seasons start.

Plus, it's my theory that bigger bucks know how to breed more efficiently. The younger bucks cruise around earlier. Big bucks don't waste time, or risk their lives for does that wont be ready like smaller bucks do. So I think 1st and 2nd week is good for "any" buck, but the 2nd or 3rd week is better for the chance at a giant. Don't let the "lock down" thing bother you. Big bucks tending does move around too, and can wind up under your tree anytime. They don't just sit there locked down and not move.
