    Hoyt and Ultra Rest

Is there anyone on here who shoots a Hoyt with an Ultra Rest. Would like to know if you had any trouble setting it up. ie vane contact. Is your nocking point high, low, or right on level.

    Angry Had the Same Problem

I did.....you can call QAD and they can send you information to speed up the drop (increase spring tension) but it involves taking apart the rest. You need to punch the pin ou that holds the fly wheel and then increase the sping tension by winding the spring clockwise to another hole. Well when I went punch the pin out, the rest shifted and I lost my centershot. Its now for sale, I'm sure it will be great rest for somebody (I only had it for two weeks). What really ticked me off was that I inteded to keep this rest long term, so I bought extra lauchers and fleece. Total investment with the rest $110.

Long story short, I called Schaffer and spoke with owner directly. I ended up buying a Schaffer Tec 1 based on the positive feedback I read on this forum. I set it up this weekend and guess what ? Bullet holes immediately with no vane contact via much easier adjustment. Once more, you'll find the QAD ultra mount is to long to use the set screw with. I didn't like the idea of having the rest held just by the mounting screw. With the Schaffer, it locks on to the bow like it was made for it. I hate to tell you this, especially if you spent the dollars I did on the QAD Ultra, but the Schaffer is the only rest I will ever put on another Hoyt bow. Perfect fit, great adjustments and excellent performance. If you're going to spend the money on a Hoyt, you might as well buy a rest that was engineered to fit the bow specifically. I know that this advice doesn't help much afer the fact, but I would cut your losses and buy a Schaffer.

I've never heard of this rest. Do they have a website. I increased the tension on the spring and it drops like demon now, the rest is definatley getting out of the way, its a tuning mystery with that rest, no one can get it to stop hitting.

The QAD will work with hoyt. As a matter of fact hoyt sells a version of the QAD with the hoyt name right on it. It is basically the new QAD HDX with hoyt on the side. I have had problems with the QAD hunter rest on my Rampage xt. The launcher doesnt lay flat enough for fletching clearance and there is no verticle adjustment on the hunter. But the new QADs have that verticle adjustment and are much faster than the hunter.

I can't even think of how many QAD's I've set up on Hoyt bows (and many others) and have never had any contact of any kind. Nock height at 1/8" high, time the rest properly, and you're go to go.

No problems with contact on the 3 Hoyts I've put them on either. Using Blazers too BTW.

I've got the HD on my CE and shoot a HDX on my 28/70 Alphaburner and when setup correctly it has no contact or drop away issues. I don't know if you are shooting high profile vanes, have the drop cord too high, or have the timing incorrect, but have 3 hunting rigs with a QAD for the rest and have no issues at all.
