    Got the mount back today

Got the mount back yesterday from the Taxi, and wow...i'm impressed. Not only did she do a great job but he didn't "shrink" at all of how I remember him. Definitely not a Mid-West stud but he's a stud for around here! Buck management and patience pays off for sure.

Looks great really like spindly type antlers like that... Usually they won't shrink too much and some taxidermist board the antlers in other wards they put a 2x4 in between so the spread doesn't shrink up.

I meant more of a "mind-shrink" if you will. You know how there are the "fish" stories that grow each time someone tells them....I was hoping the buck didn't fade from how I "remembered" him haha

Yup he was killed on my farm in Zebulon, NC. A pretty big deer for around here. I'm ecstatic about him, he's my personal best for NC and is close to my overall best. He has a close running with my Ohio buck that was taken in Southeastern Ohio on my family's farm.

I'm guessing he scores mid 120s? I wont know for sure until I put a measure on him. He's not very wide so that'll shave a couple inches off the overall score.

    Nice NC deer!!
Have you put a tape to him? He sure looks bigger than mid 120's to me. Tine length really racks up the points and he has good tines

I thought so too, I was guessing he was 130 but I measured him to 124. Granted I'm not a professional scorer, I did use the measuring-go-by here on this forum site. What hurt his overall score was his left main beam was only 18" long and he's spread was only 14".

I met a gentleman at my local bow shop that is a certified P&Y scorer and he mentioned giving my bucks an official measurement. So we'll see what he says.

Either way, I don't get caught up in the numbers, it's a cool thing to know but won't ever effect the beauty and memories I have harvesting them.

In all seriousness I have more college books and study papers in my room to start a full scale library... I need to build a library instead of more food plots!
