    Quad 400 help!

Doesn't the bolt nock need to be touching the string? I've tried numerous bolts and every time I load one it doesn't want to touch the string. If I force it in it wants to lift the front of the bolt upwards. If I point the bow towards the ground, the bolt falls out...

You have a problem with the arrow retention clip.
It goes by a bunch of different names, but its the little prong that you slide your arrow under.
If its plastic, there is a small allen head screw by it that you adjust it with.
If its a metal one, just take a pair of small pliers and bend it till it holds the arrow in place.

Yes the arrow should ALWAYS touch the string. DO NOT fire it unless it does.
To do otherwise, you have a very good chance of shattering your limbs and also injuring you and anyone nearby.
