    A question of speed

I remember someone asking about what kind of speeds one can get from a OK bow.

Here is what I am getting:

Bow: DST 40, 29.75" AMO draw length, 56.5 lbs draw weight
Arrows: Victory VAP V1, 400 spine, 120 grn point, Beiter nock, 3 Easton Diamond 175 vanes, total weight 344.5 grns
    Speed (measured 3 arrows): 285, 285, 286 ft/sec
    Speed (predicted by OnTarget2!): 284 ft/sec

    I also shot a 300 grn arrow. Speed for it was 302 ft/sec (measured) 302 ft/sec (predicted)

There seems to be quite a bit of accuracy in these numbers as the sight marks predicted by OT2! have been verified in the field by shooting all the way to 90m.

    Cheers, Rudy

The one thing I have found with ok is the he doesn't sugar coat things.

Since were talking speed. What would a DST 38 do at 27 AMO, 60 pounds, with a 300 grain arrow, 70% let off? Would I need to get a smoke instead?
The bow would be used for 3-D. Just in case my ship ever comes in.

I plugged in the numbers in Archers Advantage. I changed the AMO DL to 27" and the arrow weight to 300 grains. The speed came out to looks like you would be around that 288 fps. As you see from above posts you will hit IBO with these bows. No sugar coating here. You could likely squeeze a few more fps by tweaking the cables and stings.
Let me know if you have any questions as I am an OK archery dealer.

Thats plenty fast for me. Really didn't think it would hit in the high 280's.
Wish I could buy one now, I've been watching Ok bows for a couple of years now.
I still shoot Martin NitrousX and FuryX cam bows, but hope eventaully to upgrade.
    Thanks Mark.
