Thread: Does cable guide affect cam timing?

Does cable guide affect cam timing?

On a mission craze and other two cam bows, should the cams be timed and sync while the cables are on the cable guide or off? There is a difference if the cables are on or off the guide while looking at the timing hole on the craze.

Do it while it's on. That's how you shoot it that's how you should tune it.

Thanks for the replies. Should the bow be timed at max poundage than backed off to desired poundage or timed at desired poundage?

I set mine up just where I intend to shoot it. Axle to axle and brace height should probably be checked with the limbs bottomed out.

Most manufacturers set their specs with the limbs maxed out.

I have worked on a couple bows set up that way, that were not perfectly timed with the limbs backed out. Usually any final adjustments are very small.

Since cable guards have been installed on compounds, I have never seen a single set of instructions that set any adjustment without the cables on the rod or rollers, (in over 30 years).
