Field Shoot - Blackhawk Bowhunters of Verona, WI
28 Field. Shotgun start at 10:00a. Shooting first 1/2 in random assigned groups, break for a short lunch break, then peer grouped and resume shooting second 1/2. All archers flighted by score with cash awards in each flight. Awards and random drawing for some small Vortex goodies immediately following. With a customary trip to Culvers after for anyone interested so we can continue bs'ing about all the shots we should have made or were just out, lol. Lunch will be available at the club for a nominal fee with Chef Jamie cooking up something again this year. Usually wrap up awards and drawing by no later than 3pm for those making plans for later in the evening.

Entry fee $10. Hosted by Blackhawk Bowhunters of Verona/Madison. Visit the club's website for detailed directions to the clubhouse. For non-detailed directions, the club is located just south of the intersection of Cty Hwy's PB and M (set of lights) and just south of the Kwik Trip on Hwy PB. South of Madison and just east of Verona.

If you're a field newbie and are interested in shooting this just let us know at the registration desk and we'll be sure to pair you up with a more experienced field shooter for the first 1/2 so they can help show you the ropes. Will need sight settings ranging from 20ft to 80yds if shooting in a young adult (15) or adult division. 50yd max for youth 12-14 and 30yd max for cubs 11 and under. Don't be alarmed, its only 1 shot at 80 per 1/2 (2 total for the 28 field) and the target is something like 3ft square so not that bad.

Drop me note if you have any questions. Hope to see lots of people out there. And if want to make a weekend of field shooting in the area, Beloit Field Archers is hosting a 14 Field, 14 Hunter, shotgun start at 10a the next day using a similar format. See the BFA website for additional details on their flyer.

Again, thanks everyone for coming out and shooting with us. Hopefully for those that forgot to set their sights, mis-set their sights or shot the wrong stake our shoot will have helped to get that out of your system for the rest of the summer, lol :). Especially that one person who shot all 4 arrows for the wrong sight setting and took a 0....just like his sister did last year at our field shoot :D....kind of runs in the family ;).

For those interested, Blackhawk will be hosting the WAA State Outdoor FITA on Aug 1. The shoot is listed/described as a FITA Field - the people responsible for listing the shoot thought that shooting out in the open field denotes a "Field" shoot. We will be shooting a 72 arrow OR round on the 122cm multi-colored target faces at 70m for seniors and juniors, 60m for Masters and Cadets, and closer for Bowman and Cub divisions. After the OR round we will break for lunch and following lunch everyone will have the opportunity to compete in a head-to-head elimination bracket shoot-off. The State awards will be based on the OR round with separate awards for the elimination shoot-off. Hope to see you in Aug.
