Custom Strings and Cables Part II

Well, the past thread has been remarkable for me, but I need to update some information. The past thread will still be available for viewing, but not posting. I think its too confusing for people to find me now that I’ve moved and incorrect contact information is on the first page. A lot of folks want to call, ask questions, try and discern if I know what I’m talking about, if I’m honest, and if I’ll really stand behind my work – and my correct contact info needs to be on page 1. So hopefully this will help with that.

Here is a link to the old thread if you’d like to see some pictures or read up on what’s been happening over the last couple years http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=184329

I’m also posting an up to date price list.

    PRICE LIST

Material Choices: Bcy 452x or 8125, and Brownell Xcel

(if you order more than 1 set at a time, take $5 off each set)

1 or 2 Color, any bow, any color serving, (or combination of servings): $60

3 Color, any bow, any color serving (or combination of servings): $70

4 Color, any bow, any color of serving (or combination of serving) $85

    Loop rope: $1.50/ft. any color

If you have very special circumstances contact Karen Vought of the Physically Challenged Bowhunters of America.

My phone # is 828 680 9862, my email is raz4446@verizon.net, and you can reach me by pm here.

    Thank you very much,

    john

    Dear Bucknasty,

I hope you got the elk poop. It's good eatin'. lol. I thought it was kinda neat! Again, thanks for all your help and sorry we were a pain in the you-know-what on the phone.

Anxiously awaiting the next two sets of strings.

If you guys are procrastinating and wondering if these string sets are good, you are wasting time. Order NOW! My third and fourth sets of Bucknastys are coming, can't wait!

Awesome customer service. Just got off the phone with John and he will take care of you, even if it's your own stupidity that caused a problem! Thanks for taking care of my strings John.
    Have a good day.
Looking forward to a day in the mountains where the wind blows through the trees, making the aspens quake while the elk bugle and I know there isn't anywhere I would rather be.

    Thumbs up buck nasty

John, I ordered a set of your strings & cables some time ago. I set them up and shot maybe 30 shots through them and then tied in my peep. I have shot probably a couple thousand arrows through them and my peep has not moved a bit. Rock solid! The best $50.00 I have ever spent. Can't wait to take them off and trade them in on a new set. You will still give me $25.00 for my old BuckNasty strings on trade in wont you? LOL Thanks again John BUCKNASTY ROCKS!!!

    Talking Nastified Icon...

Okay, For all of you that weren't convinced yet, here's my 'review' of Bucknasty's product and service...

On February 18th I mailed Bucknasty (John) whether he would ship to the Netherlands. I got a lighning response back from him stating that this would be no problem at all. I ordered a set of string and cable for my Icon. During the waiting period, I must have changed my order at least 4 times (wrong Icon year (and thus different string lenghts), color change, another color change, adding Halo to the order). In the end, the order came through perfectly. Color wise, I was in a bit of a spot, but I sent John a picture of my bow, and told him I'd go with his expertise and he chose perfect colors blending my choice and his experience together. Serving wise, John placed the servings perfectly, without me having to tell him. Just the lenght of cable and string where sent, and the rest (Servings) was perfectly arranged and in place.

The serving I ordered was HALO with a 'normal' center serve. You can clearly see the HALO being much smoother and finer than the center serving. This helps in a smoother draw, as the cable slides through the cable rollers and over the cams much better. The center serve was the perfect width for my nocks. The arrow could slide up and down, but would not come off without some help. All loops where neatly served and just holding the strings gives you confidence they'll help you perform for a long time.

Aside from aestetics there is of course the technical part: the strings are exactly on ordered lenght. After putting it on the bow, I broke in the string with 50 shots. After that, all that was needed was two twists in the cable to put the cam in sync. At that, the 60# Icon maxed at 61 pounds, and ATA and BH where spot on. The string gets shipped with a serving thread inserted where your peepsight is supposed to go. This made it very easy to install the peepsight, and the guy from my pro shop instantly noticed that there was no rotational tension in the string, so my peep went in straight, and stayed that way, all through the shot cycle (and all consecutive shot cycles).

After installation of all string attachments (nock point, D-Loop, peep) the bow shot like a dream. Fast (even Gained a foot or 2), silent, and accurate. Exactly what I bought it for. I feel totally ready and confident for the upcoming season (I'm a spothunter , and this year, for the first time in nine years, I'll be shooting fields again).

As for dealing with John, he responds very timely, to the point and personal. His pricing is very good, and from what I've heard, if there's a problem, he helps out. Everytime.

All in all, I found only one downside to his strings... The wait. I received the strings April 17th. However, once you receive that big envelope in the mail, and unpack the goods, you know it was worth it...

Here's one on you John: To a great product, from a great guy. .

I've added some pictures to show the craftsmanship.

-- I'm not used to shooting indoors. The lack of wind confuses me
-- I don't get it! My arrows keep going where I'm aiming, instead of where they are supposed to go!

    Totaly Amazed

I have been shooting my Mathews Switchback XT for almost a year now, and the Strings were starting to show wear. After reading all the positive comments about the BuckNasty Stings, about 4 weeksw ago I ordered a set from John. Well today my wait was over, and I could have never expected to be as pleased as I was. These stings are made with the finest workmanship, and I have to say are Perfect........... The Zebra strings that came on my Swttchback XT are not even in the same class as the BuckNasty Strings. If you want the Rolls-Royce of Srtings, you need to get yourself some Strings from BuckNasty. I wish there were more things in life that turned out better than expected......... Thanks Again, John Tomorrow I will try to take some pictures and post them on here...............

John, I am totally amazed. You made me the Irish flag. And it is really is a piece of art and workmanship. I could'nt be more happier. And I know I called you when you were already home ( and working on a vacuum cleaner), and your customer service was outstanding, thankyou, thankyou.

I post very little, but what you have to offer is worth raving about. John, thanks again for everything.

Okay couple questions for ya all.

First....What is the turn around time for strings
Second...What if you don't know what lengths strings you need...I.E. I ahve a black ice.
Third...My bow is about two months old...is it worth me putting on new strings? It is a 07 Diamond black Ice 70#

    Looking forward to any answers.

    (1) John will have to answer that one
    (2) John will probably know what they are, but double check the manufacture's web site.
    (3) If you change them now, if you ever have an emergency you'll have a good pair for backup
