    HELP... attaching a wrist strap

OK.. please keep in mind... as stated in previous posts... I am new and have no one in my area to ask.

I was shooting my new compound bow for a few weeks and realized the importance of a stabilizer and wrist strap. So I ordered them.

I have installed my wrist strap (I think properly) which is just a piece of camo fleece with a grommet, that the stabilizer holds in place. So I hold up my bow, have my strap adjusted as small as possible and... well I must be doing something wrong. When I hold the bow out and let go, it should fall away and sit there... but the strap is definitely not tight and the bow slides down my wrist.

Maybe a picture would be in order if anoyone cares to post one for me.

    Thanks

i htink your problem is the need of a stabilizer or counterweight, and not the strap, but im not sure i fully understand what you mean.

    good luck!

Maybe I do not know what i am talking about. I bought a wrist strap and stabilizer, so I would not have to grip my bow with my left hand and could let it fall away as I release the arrow.
I have the strap adjusted as small as it will go but I think i am doing something wrong. It is not tight at all and if I try to let the bow fall away, it falls away but thne slides down my wrist.

You really don't need it to fall away. The sling is so you can have a loose grip or open grip and not drop your bow. I might misunderstand what your saying. Don't overthink the small things. Like I always say- Don't sweat the petty things, just pet the sweaty things!

if you want it to fall forward, you may need more weight on the front of your stabilizer.

can you post a pic of your setup??

I use the "CR" brand, with metal mount, opposed to the leather w/grommet...

It will catch on your hand to prevent a drop, but you can grab it after the arrow is gone.

Its just that if you have a good explosive release, the bow will be gone before you grab it, assuming good hand form.

The sling just keeps it there for a moment.

most all bows if you just put your hand through the sling will flop all over the place.
