Do you have a point of contact there? We've had 24 lanes worth of butts on order that were supposed to get to our club in late October, well before the serious indoor season starts. We put the order in early September.
They were delayed at least twice, and are now supposed to be delivered Friday, although the guy who's been checking on them hasn't gotten a call back yet as of last night. We have an invitational shoot next week, and a working party this weekend to install them. I hope they show up, otherwise we're going to have a bunch of people with nothing to do, and we'll have to use the old butts for the shoot.
I just got mine the other day. I haven't put any arrows in it yet, but it looks great. I'll tell you what that straw is definitelyl packed in there tight!!!
I was thinking of purchasing some of these for my range and wondered how high speed carbons would pull out of these butts ?? Any of you shoot into these with carbon at 280+ yet ?
Anyone who gets the Pacific Bow Buttsd will be extremely pleased. Not only for clubs but for the individual shooter. I have been using the butts at all my shoots and they are by FAR the best butt I have used. The butts are so solid I cannot imagine how long it will take to shoot one out. As Jimmy Despart stated in a previous post the butt he has has taken tons of shots and is no different for the wear.
Karl is a great guy and a great person to work with. I have some clubs who want to switch over and they will be pleased to say the least. Even the "faster" arrows can take it with no problem, I'd say a 308 rifle would have trouble getting through!
A little heads up...I will be putting an order together with some clubs to get a large shipment of the big butts. If you are in the Albany NY area or are will ing to come pick them up and would like to put them all together drop me a PM Not sure exactly when but it may save you a few dollars in shipping.
For those who would like to shoot the big butt you can come to the Pete Rickard Indoor Vegas tournament at the Empire State Plaza Mar 19-21 or come to the Pete Rickard Indoor Vegas tournament at the New York Whitetail classic atb the Lake George Form in Lake George New York Apr 3-4.
It couldn't be any worse than him shipping me one out here in Southern Georgia!!! You're alot closer he's located in Oregon. Anyways the prices he gave me included shipping anyways.
all i can say is too take caution when dealing with pacific bow butts....
i prepaid karl in august.....and have yet to recieve the butts or the return check.
i spoke with karl on several occasions......and our last couple of conversations were of him having trouble with the freight companys......so we decided that if he couldnt get them shipped a week ago friday that he would return my money.....i still havent seen the butts or the check.....
from all i have read the butts sound like they are first class....however.....its nothing first class about prepaying(for a better deal) only months later not too recieve.....hopefully ill be seeing a "check in the mail" soon......
yes dan, patient and honest to a fault.....you see....when i spoke with karl(numerous times, he seemed very sincere and shared some personal things with me) i actually felt for his trials and tribulations in business.....all the while my better half( littlewolf) was chewing my tail for sending the money upfront and not getting quicker results.....
sometimes dan, good things do come to those who wait....and sometimes......well.....
tink i went and bought some of those big blocks...they were being used in one of the indoor leagues i shot...and they seemed to hold up well and the arrows didnt "shift" around once you had a good group going....
Early last fall I started talking to Karl about a couple butts for home use , and like many of you didnt like the xtra cost of the freight , so I held off , Got a email from Karl that one of the local clubs was getting in a shipment , and if I wanted , I could get my 2 butts I wanted on that order shipping paid because of the size of the local clubs order .
To make a long story short , I had my butts 5 days later and Karl could not have been any better to deal with , Dont know what to say to you for sure OBT , but my dealings with Karl and his company were outstanding........... ia bhtr
ia bhtr...im glad you got the target butts from karl....like i say...everytime i spoke with him, i too thought he was going to do as he said....but for whatever reason, it didnt happen.....and trust me....i wasnt getting anything for nothing.....i prepaid for everything....
i hope you enjoy them, and from what ive read on here....they seem to be a premier target butt.....
however, i am only cautioning anyone else, not too prepay for them, just to pay as they get them....if i hadnt paid up front i could care less how long it takes.....but from august till now...thats a bit too much in even my book....
OBT
I prepaid as well, and I felt a solid shipping date was "elusive." We eventually got them, but I believe it helped that we ordered extra to get better price break. If anyone in the midwest is looking for Big Butts or the smaller block size, I have some I would like to move.
They work great, especially for large arrows. I have found Gold Tip camo arrows get a little residue stuck on them.
I have a lot of experience shipping out of Washington. Karl's curse is his location. I moved a million pounds of freight out of Seattle last year to Alaska and I still havn't come up with a decent, cheap, way to move his butts from his "out of the way" Washington location.
akdoug.....i can understand having some problems with shipping....however....when you tell someone it may take 3-4, or even 5-6 weeks....and than after 12-15 weeks its hard to get an answer on the phone or email....well thats another story all together....
and i guess in the area he's from they must not have very good mail service either....cause on approx dec 1 he was supposed to have "mailed" a return check to me....still no sign of it nor no call to explain this "unforseen" circumstance....
any way you try to cut it....the best product with a story teller operator just aint going to make it nowadays....
and akdoug.....i realize you have a long indoor season.....its just not that way down south for me...matter fact....thats why i tried back in august to "organize" and prepare for the indoor season...i thought ordering in august would insure me "plenty" of time to practice for the indoor tourneys......however....i have about 2-3 weeks at most left of my indoor season...than its back outside to practice for the upcoming 3de'ere season.....
although, i gotta tell you...today would have been a great day to have some indoor practice.....its freezing here.....woke up to low 30's and the temp is only going to raise in the low 50's....sure would have been nice to be able to stay indoors and out of the harsh weather
Now you see how it is from the other side Granted its not really the same but when a customer is unhappy with a supplier/vendor/dealer they really get upset and this is the first time I have seen you this way...... guess its since its out of your control.................
out of your hands.......
Anyways , BT, you made some good points on some recent posts.
I would sure have hard time with prepay and not shipping on time. I would get in my car and drive them to a location for shipping if I told a customer they would be there.
Not trying to defend Karl at PBB.... just giving a little info on how difficult it is to get them moved from him to the rest of the world.
No excuse for not communicating IMHO. I'm in business, just like you are OBT...and I know both of us return emails, snail mail, and phone calls as fast as humanly possible.
