Who wants a custom longbow II

My first thread is getting ways too long and taking too long to download so here is a new one. As I stated in my first thread I'm new to bow making and learning more and more on every bow I make. I'm a father of 7 and love traditional archery almost as much as I love my kids but I just can't afford some of the prices they want for some of the better bows out there. So I made one then two then so on and so on>>>> So far all of the people that bought one of my bows have really liked them. You can PM huntnmuleys, logman72, rap66 and jarley77 about their bows to get an idea of how they like them so far. I'm asking $300.00 plus shipping with $150.00 of that up front for a deposit to get started on the bows. I can use just about any wood combo you want. If you want a dymondwood riser it will be $50.00 more. I make the bows on a first come first serve basis and can do more than one at a time. I need about 4 weeks to complete a bow as I'm a full time truck driver and only home on the week-ends. Her are a few pictures of the bows I have made so far:
Thx Bill

Huntnmuley liked my bows so much he ordered another. Here is a picture of the first, the limbs are stained quilted maple and bamboo cores. The riser is a combo of paduak and purpleheart. The second bow will have leopardwood and bamboo core limbs. The riser is yellowheart, leopardwood and maple accents. Specs I'm shooting for is 64" to 66" 60# 26 1/2".

I got my bow in the other day and let me tell you that is is unbelievable! I love this bow. It was virtually shock free and is a great shooter. Now all I have to do is become a great shooter lol So if you are thinking about picking one up I highly advise it. I will be placing another order for one soon Bill, so I will let you know. Thanks once again for the great bow!

Earl's bow is shipped

I shipped Earl's bow today. I forgot to apply to rest and I didn't put the string on. I was so excited to have the bow completed I forgot, so I mailed them out by themselves. Let me know how you like it Wes.
Thx Bill

My sons birthday bow.

I have my son for the summer from Oklahoma. This is what we came up with for a present. Specs: 64" 45# 28". The riser is kingswood, purpleheart and maple accents. The limbs are bacote and purpleheart while the handle overlays is maple and bacote. The tips overlays is red phenolic, maple and purpleheart. We have worked together on the bow from the start, not only is he learning to make his own longbow but I have been having the time of my life spending this time with him. I now know why I was put on this earth.

I seriously need to find some extra cash and get my order in soon. I've watched you and your work grow from the start and I am very impressed with each new bow. your sons bow is extremely beautiful. I love the way you split the limb woods that looks insane. Of course like you said that will probably be your nicest bow ever because you and he made it together. I will hopefully contact you again soon. Jason

A bow for bkess70

This bow is also for a Brad but not the same one. The limbs will be walnut while the riser has cocobolo, zebrawood with maple and paduak accents. I think this one will be a looker. Glueing it up tonight. the specs I'm shooting for on this one is 64" 55# 28".

bows working

Well guys, I just wanted to say thanks to all that have bought, asked and looked at my bows. As for the most part I have gotten pretty positive feedback and some very constructive feedback. Both are more than welcome it is the only way I can learn to make a better product for you all. Bacote seems to be the favorite limb and riser wood. I'm starting to explore splicing two different woods together for a fancy look on the veneers as I did with my sons bow. Pictures are coming of bkess70's bow, next bow I'll be working on is wingshooter2's, man I hope this one knocks your socks off. I have full creative control over the bow, the only instructions were to make it fancy! I got some orders from the our military tonight. First a Navy man then a 20 year USMC Sgt. who is serving in Iraq. I already told him how I felt! I hope you all extend your thanks to him also, his Archerytalk name is (redwolf).
Again I can't thank you all enough.

Next bow

Here is the next bow on my list. This one is for wingshooter2. He gave me complete control, all he asked me to do was make it fancy. I hope you guys like it but most of all I hope Lou (wingshooter2) likes it. I'm shooting for 68" 45# to 50# 28". The limbs are bamboo cores with zebrawood and padauk veneers. I haven't made the riser yet but will most likely go with a combo of the same wood as the veneers.
Thx Bill

Thumbs up

Just curious if you are cutting and sanding your own tapers? Great looking work. Each one just seems to get better and better if possible.
