Actually im looking for a cheap arrow I can shoot at 20-30yds that won't hit like 3-4 inches either high or low compared to my ACC's. maybe like some aluminums..
To get an arrow to impact similar to your 3-49's, you are going to have to find one that is of similar diameter (which you already knew), but also as close as possible in grain weight and spine. Aluminums are basically out. Because to get the same spine, they need to be much larger in diameter and also heavier. In an inexpensive Easton shaft, the Carbon Excel 400 is about as close a match as you will get.
Just out of curiosity... what are you planning on shooting these into?
Oh, anything basically. Rabbits, raccoons, birds, turtles, etc.
A little story maybe might help. A raccoon one time had a bad habit of messing with my hunting setup. He would either, for one, just flat scar my deer off, or bang around on my feeder distrupting everthing. Then the last straw was he decided that he liked to get his picture taken and he climbed up on my $400 scouting camera and started trying to "EAT IT" I guess
So I picked up my ACC with a 100g Striker and smoked his @$$.
Problem is, I realized that usless **** was now prized at about $25 cause my arrow bent when it hit the ground and it also tore up the broadhead.
This is why im looking for some cheaper arrows I can do some plinking with.
MY ACC's are cut at 29.5 inches i think and with a 125g tip. I think if I cut a FMJ to 28" I can get a decent match. Im just thinking I could buy them second hand off this sight for the price of new Cheapo arrows and hopefully end up with some decent "go anywhere" arrows.
For that kinda shootin you definately want a all carbon IMO, much more durable, I use axis's, Ive hit rocks trees etc and they are tough. 17/64" diameter 9 gpi
willthebad, trust me if you can just picture it chewing on my camera... I probably would have shot him with an X10!!!
L-train,, I really like the all carbon for staying straight, but do you worry about them once they hit those rocks, everytime I hit the ground with an all carbon I think about it exploding the next time I shoot it.
Maybe not though, i have just seen some horrible pics.
I always flex'em real hard and look em over. Thats why I shoot the axis over the epics for all them shots, they seem tougher to me.
Alum can explode just like carbons and cant take near the beating making them very expensive.
The Axis?
Yea give or take a few $
Check the classifieds though, I picked up 2 dozen for 125 a couple months ago.
