    that was true, years ago.

now you must have a valid antlerless tag for the unit, regardless of season or weapon.

    pretty sure about that.

I stand corrected. I just found this on the GC web page:

Antlerless deer licenses are required to hunt for antlerless deer during any deer season, except by flintlock hunters during the post-Christmas muzzleloader season, and only thenif the hunter has not used his or her general license (buck) tag. An unused buck tag is validfor an antlerless deer anywhere in the state only during the flintlock deer season.

The regular antlered tag can be used as a statewide antlerless tag only by flintlock hunters in the late season, not by bowhunters.

i thought if you had a flintlock stamp, you could use the tag as either buck or doe for the late season, with bow or frontstuffer.

I hope you have more doe than we do here in clarion county. Even though I shot a nice buck this year, I seen very little deer. I am hearing it everywhere I go. We are trying to convince people to save some seed for next year.

Off the PA game Commission site - Press release #155-07

All antlerless deer taken by hunters in the late archery and special regulations area antlerless seasons must be tagged with an unused WMU-specific antlerless deer license harvest tag or a Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) antlerless deer permit harvest tag. Flintlock muzzleloader season participants may harvest an antlerless deer with either a WMU-specific or DMAP-specific antlerless deer license/permit or general hunting license deer harvest tag. Buck hunting in the late seasons is governed by antler restrictions and limited to only bowhunters and flintlock muzzleloader hunters who possess an unused general hunting license deer harvest tag.

Muzzleloader license holders also have the option to use crossbows as part of the late flintlock season. Those licensed hunters who choose to use a crossbow have the option of using any unused antlered deer tag as an either sex tag anywhere in the state.

If I am reading this correctly...it is permissable to use a crossbow to harvest a doe and use your antled deer tag on it, if you're using the crossbow in place of a muzzleloader, but you must have an unused antrless license to take a doe with a compound or traditional equipment ----- confused, me too.

As the song says... "That's just the way it is...." It's hard to understand the game commission sometimes.

I find this funny because I know a bunch of guys that hunt in Clarion, can't remember what Game Lands number it is and they said there was shooting all day, they saw a bunch of deer and quite a few people in the area got deer. To boot, I was told Clarion had no deer a few years ago as well and my buddy missed 2 bucks, we saw 10 doe and I shot a nice 8 point all by noon on opening day; all on this same set of game lands.
