    Hunting In Back Yard

Lately I have seen some nice deer come up in my back yard. Behind my house is a nice field/wooded area. I'm thinking about locating the property owner and ask him, if I can hunt on his land. I'm thinking about setting up, in my back yard and taking one of these deer that keep comming up. What's your take on this. I really want to go for it so hey talk me into it.

Get on it!!! I hunt within a half a mile of my subdivision and less than a 3 miles from the high school football field. I saw 13 different bucks and three shooters. I have my eyes on one that was well into the 160's last year...all in town!!!!

Hunt smart, hunt often and have a good taxidermist!!!

I sure like watching them in the back yard, but I like eating them in the back yard as well.
See if you can get permission or at least info on who hunts there. If it's like a refuge type situation that you can't hunt at all I would plant something tasty and wait for the big boys to start roaming. If it has a lot of pressure, take what you can early.
Either way it is a nice setup, Congrats!

I never got a shot off from this area in my back yard last year. I tell you these past two weeks the ground has been tore up pretty bad. I feel very confident in taking one this year.

I have 2 blinds no more than 80 yards from houses. One location the deer bed nearly right on top of the house, the other has a garden.

Go for it. But make sure you know your local hunting laws. Here in NY you can't shot anything thats near any building in use and whatnot. So if I wanted to hunt deer behind my house, I would have to ask all the people that live near me. As 500 feet is a pretty good ways. If you get there permission then you are good to go. Had one dummy out by our barn hunting by the horses and he had no permission from us. We told him he had to be 500 feet away from our barn if he wanted to shoot anything. He in turn was against it and said he didn't have to be. Was real mouthy about it. Which if he would have went to hunter ed or read the dec hunter book he would know. But be sure to check the laws and whatnot. Don't want to get into trouble.

I just read a story on a guy that hunted his "back yard". It was a 2 acre parcel and the buck he shot green scored 203"
