Unhappy Cameron Hanes Leaveing EBJ.

I just received my EBJ. mag. in the mail and went to read His Dialed in section and I got the bad news that he wont be writeing for EBJ. any more. I am saddened by this I looked forward to reading his Dailed in section. I am wondering if any of you know if he is going to be shooting for Hoyt still and hoe we are going to be able to get a hold of Cameron to bounce ideas off of him about DIY hunts.

You could always try Realtree.com and Cameronhanes.com for DIY info...of course there might still be some DIY info in the Bowhunting Section albeit from less legendary sources.

There was an interview on bowcast I heard. He said it was great and he thinks highly of them but they are going their separate ways. Did not sound like it was a bad breakup. Probably just want different things right now. He also made a comment about EBJ giving a lot of young writers a chance. Maybe there is a young guy they want to give a shot to for awhile. Who knows.

It didn't sound like there was any animosity in his voice at all.

Bummer he left, but I will still buy EBJ. EbJ will do fine without him. It is made up of us Western Boys. I love the mag because it is mostly just average Joes killing big critters.

I voted it doesn't bother me, although I do hate to see him go. While reading EBJ last night was the first I had heard of it. I don't know any details but I assume he is going on to bigger and better things. Can't wait!

Yeah it bothers me...Cameron was always eager to answer questions at the expos and he was a down to earth guy, easy to get along with, and always willing to help, as far as the rest of the Eastman crew (Mike especially)...not so much. I may not renew my subscription to EBJ again. I only read it for Cameron's articles and DIY advice.

Might have something to do with him being with Under Armour and Realtree now, too.

Cameron was a huge asset to EBJ, they are going to be the ones losing out. It is to bad they didnt do what they needed to to keep him around. I know Cam also landed the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation gig. So we will be seeing more of him there. Cam is a great guy and I will definately be following his articles, probably not paying much attention to Eastmans anymore. Cam is a really dedicated bowhunter, more so than the Eastmans by far.

just my opinions, Cam

At least he could get a public draw tag and kill an animal. That earns my respect.
Most of these TV "hunters" couldn't hunt their way back to camp.

I'm certain he is off to bigger and better things. EBJ is a awesome mag and will continue to be so, but their loss. One of a very few writers/personalities who actually knows what they are talking about and a true hunter who knows his stuff.

I agree I think he is one of the best hunters out there and I will be following Cam as long as I can read or watch he is the real deal and in my book he is the number one DIY guru out there he doesnt need a guide he is a western bowhunter like a lot of us. Will miss him but I will keep ordering the mag. because of all the real guys and gals who help make up the mag. As for animosity I dd not read that into the artical sounde to me that there is other opp. for him to be his own man and do what he loves to do.

EBJ will be fine I'm sure...I talked to Cameron today online for a second, I think half the reason they split was because of time. Cameron is a busy guy and I'm sure he was wearing thin holding down his regular job, being the editor of EBJ, family life, training, running marathons and hunting...Oh and let's not forget writing, I dont know how we managed to do it all to begin with.

I think we should have a western bon fire for Cam he is one of the best and yes if there is any one on here that goes to the bowrack let Cam know that ea are all still pulling for him and it would be a great asat to here from him on A.T. every so often. We need to know if his email is going to stay the same or change.

I live in the same town that puts out the EHJ drive buy there daily. We will have fires soon enough and will name one after and for Cameron, that would be no problem here in WY.

All the guys at EBJ are a great hunters. Cameron has done his thing there for quite a while, and done it very well. Now its time to let another star shine.

Wow, I could say that about a few of the Eastman crew but wouldnt think that of Cam. He seems to me to be down to earth and surprised that anyone would care what he thinks. Almost like a little kid who just beat dad in a game of horse and doesnt know what to do next.

funny this came up. I have his book and I was thinking of subscribing to EBJ. I will have to "rethink" this now. Im sure it is still a great mag but that is a major bummer. I do wish him luck in whatever he does.

I meant to quote rutnstrut sayin Cameron is stuck on himself, not that Cam should get his own show.

I went to Cameron Hanes website and I'm very impressed with what this man has done. From what I can tell, he has a full time job with the power company during the week. On the weekends he trains for 32 mile runs in the mountains, write hunting articles for Eastman, shoots his bow. I guess he uses vacations to film his backpack Elk hunts. I always thought he made enough money off of the hunting industry to live on. Never dreamed he also had a regular job. I am amazed that he has time to do all the things he does.

If you mean he is stuck on him self because because he wants to be the best he can be. YOUR RIGHT. But then again you probaly have never met him and never will nor experaince the thing he writes and lives for. For those who asked he works for the local power company here in town . And has got few things pretty big happening for him in the up coming months. ---tim
