I am shooting a Dyna97 on my Extreme. The stock string was terrible. I had Oneida send me 2 replacements as it was coming apart at the loops. They were very good about replacing them, but they now sit as a spare back up string to my sweet custom one.

Our recomendations followed up by bcy's breif descriptions of string materials.
The new bows we sell come stock with 450+ material and is on literally thousands of oneida bows. We have sold and use both 450+ and 452x materials with exellent results. The 450+ is the most requested string material we sell.
For good speed very stable and quiet.
BCY
450+
A totally stable blend of
SK75 Dyneema (70%) and
Vectran (30%) with no creep.
Expect consistency
and no peep rotation

For a little more speed we recomend 452x also a little louder than 450+.
BCY
452X
67% SK75 Dyneema, 33% Vectran.
Half the strand size of 450 Plus.
Slightly higher arrow speed. More
strand count flexibility and improved looking 2 color strings. No creep;
completely stable.

For those requesting more speed 8125 is available as well as the fastest but louder than 452x
BCY
8125
92% SK75 Dyneema, 8% SK 65.
Highest speed.
Strong and durable
with very low creep

Here is the link to BCY's Bowstring Materials information.

Now that is some interesting info, I did not know the string composite before as I was too lazy to look or never though of it. 8125 is best on speed but Dyna 97 is my choice, happy medium if you will.

Here is photo of the stock Oneida String and the issues with it. You can see the loop coming apart. This happend to every one of them. The problem is that the outer will eventually cut the the string where it is exposed and break.

stock strings

We have sold hundreds of new oneida bows and been shooting oneida bows for many years with stock strings on them and have never once had this complaint of a string breaking this way. Strings do wear out and break for various reasons from time to time. And we have seen servings seperate some at times but not as you describe here everytime. And if everyone of the stock strings does this I would think there may be something else going on there with the limb. But its hard to tell from a picture.

Shokatsu,

Every once in a while when the ESC limbs are manufactured there is a little burr on the edge where your string seperated. This happened to me one time on a different brand of bow. My string however broke at full draw, I found a little burr on it took a drimmel lightly to it and wallah never an issue. Sometimes we get a bad serving or a bad batch of string material is made. None the less I have used strings supplied by CPO on my bows without issue but being human a bad one or two can get out. Fortunately you were given a brand new string replacement under the warranty.

CPO has a pretty good return policy/warranty like every company somethings fall through the cracks. Glad you are now taken care of!

stock strings

PDK is correct in that CPO's warrenty/customer service is exellent. And if their string was defective in any way would would make good on it.

Ok, I must have gotten my string materials confused earlier. What was the material Oneida (pre-CP, pre-Loomis) used to make strings for the AF?

This was the stuff I was referring to as really slow but quiet earlier (not Dyna 97).

DynaFLIGHT 97
Bowstring
The original high strength Dyneema (100% SK75); very durable, very low creep. Good for compounds, new
recurves and crossbows
Recommended strands: 16
(more on crossbows)
Approx ft/lb waxed: 6700
Spool sizes: 1 lb, 1/4 lb, 1/8 lb

TS PLUS For ultimate arrow speed and stability. 100% Dyneema. Diameter .014 and has a breaking strength per strand of 95 lbs

XCEL Unmatched stability and amazing speed in a combination material. Offering an extremely soft and quiet shot. Constructed from 1/3 Vectran and 2/3 SK75 Dyneema. Has a small diameter of .014 and has a breaking strength per strand of 102 lbs

452X Is half the size as 450 Plus allowing you slightly higher arrow speeds. Is made from 67% SK75 Dyneema and 33% Vectran

We have been using the TS PLUS, Xcel and 452X to make strings for Onieda bows. TS Plus is the same as dyna97 100% Dyneema and Xcel and 452X are the are the same also in percentages of dyneema and vectran. Xcel is just a little stronger though. 102lbs to 75lbs per strand. We actually in testing the 452X got it up to 92lbs before breaking. We also double serve every end loop.:thumbs_up

i got my Ts1 from wolfden bowstrings and I believe Extreme string carries it too

MIkie
Yep, that is what we used in making the string for your bow with and Xcel for the cables.

I only had problems with the NEW supply of strings from Oneida. The ones with multiple colors. Who ever made them did a terrible job. The solid Black older, thicker style were rock solid, but slower. From what I gatherd the string maker must have just made a bad batch, but I dont know as I have not tried the replacement string. As I stated it's my back up string now. I have purchased more strings from Oneida directly (Matt) and have not had problem, but that was for a non fast flight strings for a Tomcat 2 X80 bow. My current String is a custom one from Monster Bows and the endloops are VERY thick and I have not had any issues with it at all. I have gone through a set of cables already on the bow and the string still looks new. Its a Dyna 97 string.

All good information but when I contacted the String Material Companies they have different information some say it is okay to use one material and yet the other says otherwise and to say that TS Plus is the same as Dyna well maybe but BCY says that the Dyna 97 is not what they recommend for Oneidas. Not saying you can't use it just getting information that is not the same as many have suggested here. I guess it is all what you have tried and had no issues with it as to adding additional stress to the limbs and the bow having to absorb more of the energy. I have a Dnya 97 on order and hope it is as good as all have said it is.

Thanks for all the replies and information...
