I'm practicing, since I can't shoot a real bow, to challenge Brady, when he comes home. It should be interesting. I think he'll have to spot me a few, well maybe a lot. We have huge family gatherings and they are all ready to challenge Brady, it's the closest we will get to play against him in his sport of choice. :)

I absolutely love the Sports Resort - got it yesterday and I think I must have played it honestly for 6 hours! The archery part is very cool. Brady did a great job with the trailer.

Too cool

Tried out a demo at Wal-mart and the archery game alone had me tempted to buy a Wii system. Then a 3 year old started playing next to me and I re thought my position on TV games. Might make doing SPT's more fun though ;)

That is one of the reasons we shoot is it not? To get the kids out of the house away from the tube, the Wii, the PS systems!

Yes, Liz, you are correct.

For Christmas last year, my kids desperately wanted a Wii system. I was opposed to it for the same reasons - I wanted them to spend more time, not less, outside. So I got them a trampoline. At first they were dissapointed, but after about 3 months, they realized how much more they used that trampoline (them and the neighborhood kids) than they would have used the Wii. They eventually saved their money, pooled it together and bought a Wii system. They use it some, but not as much as the trampoline. So, I think Dad still won that round... ;)

But I will say this - there are quite a few games on the Wii that will give you more of a workout than you might think. If the games are played correcly (not sitting on the sofa, but standing and really playing the game), they can make the kids more active than they would be just playing video games. I think that was the main idea behind the Wii, and for that, I commend them. I played the boxing game one night, won three matches and was actually sore the next day! So it's not all bad.

Gotta find that archery game and try it now.

John.

My question to those who have it is this; Can the game be used as a (cleverly disguised) training tool?
Can it detect good or bad form and shot execution?

The only commercial I have seen for it shows the woman jerking up on what would be her bow hand at the shot, which is not something I want to encourage in my students.

Now, if we could rig up a Genesis bow with a VibraCheck, and some digital inclinometers and lasers....

I think that I like that idea. We could rig the grip so the wiimote fits it, and find a way to make the button on the release hand to actually set off a release. That could get very interesting.

Oh, maybe even find a way for a back tension release to press the button! Now that would be cool...

I love my Wii and Wii Fit! The Wii Sport Resort game is a lot of fun, and yes archery is my favorite of all the games.

Sighting In, I'd be excited to hear if you come up with some workable ideas to make this game even more like real archery. I wondered about adding weights to my "bow" arm... the same weight as my real bow to strengthen my shoulder and practice holding steady.

limbwalker, you are right you have to get off the couch to play! So far eating right, playing, and working out on the Wii Fit has helped me to lose 72 lbs!

The game, Link's Crossbow made me realize how much I like to aim and shoot at things so in December I purchased my very first bow and a membership to a club as a reward for sticking with my daily workouts on the Wii Fit. I can't say enough good things about the Wii, it has truly changed my life.

Tell me please, that there are no Walmarts in Japan (I think I recall you mentioning going to Canada).

Write back in a couple of years after you have to disassemble the trampoline to tear down the wall to install the wall size flat panel in your gaming room.

No. No Wally world here in Japan. They have Costco though ;)

Wii Resort Sports Archery

We just got the Wii Resort Sports, and m son played. He said that the archery was pretty good, but I have not played yet. When I get a chance, in all my "free time" I will play and let you know! If I can think of a more realistic way to rig it up, I'll let you know! We have a "Roland bow" with a Vibracheck "airbow," which lets you practice everything, except shooting a real arrow....I'm wondering if we can rig this up to actually be compatible with the Wii.

Wii shall Sii!

You have too much time on your hands. Did you finish cutting the section of grass you missed last week?
