Luckiest shot I ever made was on a red rooster that was one mean son of a gun and took to chasing my kids. I was on the porch with my Bear Whitetail 2 and some friends and he came strutting by and I happened to have a judo point and they weren't believing that this bow could kill and I pulled up on this cocky rooster at about 20 yds and let fly. Now that bow couldn't hold a group at 10 feet much less 20 yds, but darned if it didn't peg that rooster in one eye and out the other. Arrow stuck in the ground with him skewered and he hardly moved a muscle... dead and not flopping like they usually do. I walked over, picked up the arrow with the bird hanging off it by the eye sockets and said... "look what's for dinner". Absolutely luckiest shot I ever pulled off before or since!

I say peg him with the bow!

Definately shoot it. It may be easier to just chopped its head off or whatever but you can't tell me you wouldn't have fun shooting it like that :) The bait idea is a good one to if your in to coyote huntin

i would just chop it off or break the neck like a wounded pheasant. although a bull head would be interresting. you could chop him into 3 peices:mg:

Geezuz this is a prime example of how "sissy-ifed" America has become. You own chickens but not a block to butcher them? Whack his head off with a hatchet. This ain't pets..they's eats! ;)
I'll support this........stump with a couple of nails close together to hold the head and stretch the neck always worked well for us......:chicken01:  :hungry: :darkbeer:

Since your rooster likes to run his mouth so early and your up anyway, you might just as well get a leather shoe string and stake his ass out in front of the tree stand...that old loud mouth is the best "yote" bait you can find...if a "yote" would happen to get to the bird and cause his death then just pick up the 12GA and shoot some crows for a while...you will have more fun with that old stringy bird out in the field rather than in the pot...and less messy...JMO

Don't use a field point. I shot a chicky with a field point one time and I had to chase her down to get my arrow back.

Lets discuss the ethics of baiting. Would this be considered high fence? Certainly said chicken would not be eligible for Pope and Young. Can you justify scoring him anyway?

my uncle had a similar problem, so I used my .17 Fireball and shot him. It would have been fun with a bow, but I wanted to use the gun for once!

i had to take out some roosters before, they were basically wild and i didnt have any shells for my 22, so i used blunt tips and i had an extra rage so i used that to.got passthroughs with thre blunt tips and they worked like a charm. dang rage only got bout 1 inch of penetration:mad:, never recovered that one:eek::zip:
