Right now my bow as it is set up is shooting 295 FPS with a 430 grain arrow. I only have a few arrows left as of now, going to buy new ones but should I get lighter ones to be flatter shooting?

I would stay above 400 grns and your current set up is plenty fast.

Are you hunting in the east or west?

If those arrows are shooting good I would probably stay with those. 295 fps is doin good and should still be flat shooting enough for most whitetail distances. Keeping you arrow weight up will serve you well in the penetration department. Don't get caught up in the "speed at all costs game"

I am shooting 430 grains at 290 and I think it's perfect. If you change, I would definitely stay above the 400 grain mark.

I agree, stay at or above 400gr. Not only better penetration but a quieter shooting bow also.
Even though I have gotten pass-thru's as light as 368gr I am going to shoot 400+gr. I feel like my bow shoots a heavier arrow a bit better too.

Why would you want to go lighter? Just for speed? Are you having any issues with speed that would justify a change? What is the max distance that you would shoot?

Just choose a arrow that gives you the performance from your bow that you want, I personally enjoy shooting above 340 fps with my destroyer with my carbontech cheetas. They tune well and won 12 local shoots for me this summer, I have already killed 3 deer this year with them and the THWACK that a cheeta and rage 2-blade at over 340 fps is unreal. My cheetas are 340 grains right now and I usually run them at 326 grains but I made them slightly longer and put uni bushings with g-knocks and that bumped up the total a little. If you don't mind shooting a slow bow then run some heavy arrows but don't let the slow crowd try and convince you that slow is the only way, it is simply a choice.

ive used arrows from 345-450. my experience with arrows in the 345 range i just didnt get the penetration i was looking for. last year i was running in at 380 and had good results. this year i bumped up to 420 and i havent had any issues. i my bow is plenty fast. if it were up to me, i wont go below 400 grains.

If your bow is tuned, set up, and shooting with what you have, no way would I change a thing. Man, thats good speed for that heavy of an arrow. You shouldnt have any problems with penetration even on quarting shots.

Dont fix what isnt broken.

I'm with the rest of the crowd. You could gain speed by going to a lighter arrow, but the heavier arrow will actually retain a higher perentage of it's initial velocity over a given distance and in doing so provide better penetration potential, especially if your shots tend to be on the long side.

Im in at 283fps at 428gr. and I think it is perfect.

Absolutely no need to try to be faster.
