There is a foul plot being played out at GHCA!!

You probably received an email from the Secretary's email address that was written by Howard Moore. That email was filled with half truths and outright lies.

At the present time the Board has disconnected from the membership and are blocking every attempt to straighten things out. If you received the email from the CFO/Secretary you will notice that the meeting was scheduled for May 24. It is being rescheduled for June 3 when most of the archers involved will be out of town at the ASA KY Shoot.

This all started out because the Board would not spend $350 for Directors and Officers (D&O) insurance. Three members of the Board resigned. Shortly after that one of the officers that resigned was accused of stealing less than $100 although no one has yet proven that they did it or even provided an exact amount that is missing. The money, almost $1000 of YOUR dues, was in placed in a file cabinet in the office by the CFO behind a locked door that several people had access to. This in itself violates the rules that the CFO himself had written. The Board has failed to provide receipts or a formal statement as to the funds owed. The other two officers that resigned never had access to petty cash.

You need to get involved!!!!

If you have any questions, I will attempt to answer them here.

golden guy thanks for putting this up here, but for you and everyone who posts on here about this pleas put your names on your post so we know who were dealing with here ,its to easy to make charges and hide behind a handle. we saw this happen with the state archery assoc a few years ago thanks , richard lucangioli

Members of Golden High Country Archers

A group of members of the Club have followed all of the Club's By-Laws asking the President to schedule a Special Meeting of the Membership to discuss specific issues that we feel need to be resolved to improve the Club. The meeting request is for May 24th, (Thursday) at 6:00pm at the Club House. The Membership Director sent out an email to the Club notifying the Membership that the 24th is the date of the meeting. We will meet at the Clubhouse to discuss the issues outlined to the President with the Membership on the 24th. We hope all of you will come to the meeting to understand what's going on at your Club.

We've informed the President that the June 2nd date will not work for our group. Hopefully, the President will not confuse the Membership further by changing the date and notifying the Membership of an incorrect date. Several of our group will be at the ASA KY shoot that weekend and will not be able to attend on the 2nd.

If you have questions that you would like to discuss concerning this issue with me or the 12 to 14 members who have requested this meeting, please come to the meeting on the 24th or give us a call and we will be more than happy to answers your questions.

Respectfully,

Tipton Cook

As predicted, they have sent out an email today with the incorrect date. They have already sent out an email confirming the May 24th date.

It has become increasingly clear to me that the board does not reflect the views of the members. Something needs to be done.

The letter about the June 2 meeting will soon be mailed.... As I understand it it is, once again, filled with lies and half truths.

They are also calling for the revocation of membership for the "gang of 12".

Your voice is needed!!!!

Crap I am getting stuck working late and won't have enough time to get home and grab my badge and get to the range in time. Just so you know I'm standing with you guy's 100%

Well, the "unofficial" meeting was held yesterday evening and, overall, things went well. We talked for over 3 hours and, as expected, there was some tension with members, and former members, of the GHCA BoD and the former CFO.There were, I would guess, over 30 members there. There were also two members of the BoD present.

Tipton presented his side of the story and answered a lot of questions. Once again the issue over the money came up and the former CFO held to the fact that Tipton still owed the club money. Howard was asked to present the receipts that Tipton owed. Howard's response was that the BoD "had the receipts". He did not present them. These receipts have asked for repeatedly by the "Gang of 12" and Tipton.

One member took out $100 to cover the alleged shortfall but neither member of the BoD would accept it.

All in all, I think things went pretty well. We will see what happens in the June 2 meetings. Everything, almost, was civil. We really only had a couple of brief blowups and most of those were by former office holders of the club.

It is URGENT that you come to the June 2 meeting!!!! In all honesty, and I am NOT trying to trump things up, the future of YOUR club is at stake.

i counted over 40 their , i was a bit disappointed in the attitudes of the bod members in attendance i believe their were 3 their ,it was like were right and thats it, they don't get it they work for the members , if thats their attitudes they need to resign or get voted out.and where was the president in all this he should be front and center fixing this, he has been invisible

Don't forget the meeting this Saturday at 4:00!!!!

I joined the club and repeatedly sent emails (listed emails on site) in attempts to find out when the next work party was, so that I could work off a significant portion of my dues as is customarily done. No responses until after my date had passed. In my opinion, that club was a cluster from the day my wife bought me membership for my birthday. I personally hope it folds and takes the worthless management with it. Maybe they can use my pissed away dues to make up for the shortfall.

Help out the "Gang of 12" and give us a chance to make things right for you. It really was a great club and it can be that way again.

Loved to shoot at the place, but my money was essentially stolen. All I wanted was to put my time in on a work project and no one responded to my emails to find out the when, how, etc. I wasn't about to pay another full year's dues after that crap. My time is way less valuable than my money. I wanted to join for years, but never did because I could never justify the money with a wife and kids and a job that doesn't pay enough. My wife bought me membership for my birthday - bless her heart - and then nothing once my money was taken. Seemed like a cut and run to me.

Elk sniper,

I tried to present your concerns to the board tonight, but it was like talking to myself. I even suggested that they contact you and offer you a way back into the club at a reduced rate. However the meeting blew up after that and I and several others ended up turning in our memberships and walking away. The club has some significant problems in my opinion and the current board of directors does not represent the membership.

Sorry I could not have been more help...

Henry

So for those of you out there wondering about Golden High Country Archers and the current BOD this might make you question even more things.

As many of you know a member was voted out of GHCA on Saturday at a special members meeting. Well at least that is what some would like you to believe. here is a section of the "Full Policies Manual" as posted on the GHCA website:
Section 12 Discipline And Settling Of Disputes
12.16.13 A silent vote via written ballot will be taken. A member may not be removed unless a 2/3 majority of a quorum of members present at this meeting votes to do so.

At the meeting the vote was cast via a show of hands, not with in the by-laws and the result of the vote was 30 to keep and 36 or 37 to kick out....I'm no mathematician but I can see that a 2/3 majority was not reached! The vote to kick out the member had to be at least 45.

As a current member of Golden I have sent an email to the BOD asking the question of how can he no longer be a member when the burden of 2/3 vote was not filled. I will let you know if I hear anything back.
