I've been seriously debating getting a compound to go along with my recurve. I'd like something inexpensive as funds are tight. I was looking at a Bear encounter or PSE stinger, but found a 2011 Martin rack attack (exile) online that comes with the d loop,peep,6 arrow quiver, biscuit and bullseye 3 pin sight for like $225. Should I pull the trigger on that? or try and find a dealer to try it out first? any help would be appreciated.

When i went from recurve to compound i purchased a used Oneida. They are pretty much a compound recurve, I got it used for $100. put another 100 in strings and cables and it shoots amazingly well. You can still shoot fingers, plus they are easy to shoot, very forgiving. After a season i purchased a 09 Deadzone 30 for $300 new from an outfitter. Which is actually a great bow IF you shoot heavy arrows.

I have a Martin Rack Attack and really like it. I would recommend it for a first compound. It was my first bow too. They agent really expensive and can shoot just as good as the expensive bows. A friend of mine with a z7 xtreme came over and I was shooting as good as him.
