I just ordered a Hardcore Max and hoping to get it before this Saturday because I will be buying my first bow, a Mission Ballistic, and would like to be able to have is set up so I can practice. In addition to the release I also ordered an HHA site and QAD rest. Not sure on a stabilizer yet. I think it would be wise to have the bow set up and try a few stabilizers on the bow before deciding on one. Did much research before choosing everything and glad I did because I almost made an impulse purchase while at Bass Pro Shops a couple weeks ago and I would have been regretting that big time. One of the biggest reasons I did not buy from them and will probably never buy a bow from them in the future was that they would not let me test fire any of the bows. I went to one of the local pro shops and told the sales guy I was not going to buy anything today and he still offered to let me shoot one of the bows. I shot the Mathews Chill and really liked it. I'm going to op for the Mission instead so I can buy my girlfriend a bow too. I want to thank everyone here for their input on various products because I trust your opinions over a merchants or magazines recommendation any day. Although I will say this about my local pro shop, despite having my eye on a bow that would cost a grand, the sales guy recommended the much cheaper mission instead to suit my needs and uses much better. Very rare these days.

I went to shoot my bow today at the local bow shop. I've been using a TruBall Pro Diamond thumb-style release. I forgot it and didn't want to go home to get it. I asked the woman at the shop if she had a release I could use. She gave me her's, a 2013 Hardcore Max in camo. This has the 20 degree movement to lessen torque and it's perfectly inline with the d-loop.

Wow is all I can say. I was shooting 3 arrows at a time at 20 yards and most of my shots were within an inch or two and right on or near the bulls-eye. I don't shoot that much lately and I haven't shot that well in 5-10 years. The accuracy blew me away. I was stacking arrows.

Needless to say, I bought one on the spot. I got the Hardcore Black Max. It was a little pricey, but hey, I don't mind especially since I shoot great with it. I can't wait to try mine in the next few days. I don't plan on changing the trigger pressure or travel. I did take it out of the box and shorten the rod length to it's minimum since I'm only 5'6" and I have small hands.

I will be using this release now for hunting and 3D. Just my .02.

It truly is a nice release for a loop shooter. I have a 10 year old girl I coach. She had been using a cheap Truefire Patriot and had kind of reached a plateau in her indoor scores. I figured a new release would help so started researching them. I ended up buying her the Black Max for reasons you have listed. It can be shortened up for small hands. I did, however, adjust the trigger for her. No travel and heavy pull to make her shoot using back tension. She picked up about 40 points on a Vegas round.

The tru Fire site says when adjusting the release to not test on your bow first. Use a string or something to test the tention before shooting.
