I found a freshly dead doe partially picked by some scavenger only about 150 yards from my stand. What's your experience? Do these encounters spook deer in your area?

Nope. We have shot deer in the same spot on the same day before.

One year I killed a buck on the opening morning of gun season. I got out of my stand, drug the buck over to my tree, and climbed back up. An hour later another buck came by, saw the dead buck under the tree, then tried to fight with him.

I have seen deer sniff a freshly killed carcase and continue as if nothing happened. I have this on film. I have seen them ignore a day-old gut pile as well. I think they live in a world of death... it doesn't bother them.

that is awesome, what we get to witness in the outdoors is mostly never seen or known...

They can get spooky at te scent of a fresh bloody arrow when the one you shot just ran off. They do notice , but no just a dead deer somewhere or a pile of them, doesn't spook them.
Had this happen before. Shot a doe on a trail and the arrow was sticking up in the ground. A small buck comes by about 30 minutes later and as soon as he sniffed the arrow be bolted. Could have been the human scent on it as well.

shot a doe last nov she ran behind me 50 yds and died. I however had the unfortunate case of watch a 150 bed down beside her and a 160 came over so they fight over her and then meander off.

I think a neighbor may have shot it and never recovered it. Hard to tell. Most of the responses, while positive, are regarding deer that have not been there long. What about deer that are being slowly "returned to nature"?

Only if they believe in ghosts.

I'm betting your scent on the arrow spooks more deer than blood does. I've never seen a deer spook from blood, gut pile, or another dead deer.
