I decided that I would take a look at some of the new bows that are on the market today. I have figured out that I am really getting old as the compounds that I was looking at were in my mind totally ugly,as they don't really look like bows. After looking I have decided to keep my (2) PSE Nova bows, my PSE recurve and and my hickory longbow and keep my money to spend on other things. I really do not understand why bows have to have speeds in excess of 350fps.as I have seen numerous animals killed with speeds that were less that 200fps. Like I said I guess I am just getting old----jimd

I concure. Kinda all of 'em are ugly with a heavy emphasis on reflex risers. I guess so we can achieve ridiculous, unneeded speed. I prefer much more classic looks myself.

This^^^^^^^^

The first time I saw a modern bow (2005), I thought they looked AWESOME!!! Badazz to the bone! And still do.

Some of the old bows I see look like they should be mounted to the top of a WWII half-track instead of a 50 cal.!!!

lame, stupid posts are lame and stupid

I dont know about them all being ugly but I still think a 99 martin scepter is by far one of the best looking bows made but that's just my opinion, in saying that for the average archer new bows are far more user friendly

The Oly recurve is my favorite-looking bow, but nice as it looks, I can't shoot it to save my life. I can't think of a compound that I actually like the looks of, except the old Hoyt Pro Vantage wheel bow (I'm biased since I used to have one). And even it is still far uglier than a nice recurve or longbow.

But compounds are the only ones I can shoot and still have any hope of hitting the target every time.... So I have to put up with their looks. :)

Ok, I just did a google search for the pse nova bow that you are choosing to keep instead of getting a bowtech prodigy or a hoyt nitrum or a matthews chill x and all I can say is you have a way different view on what a good looking bow should look like compared to me.

So you would rather shoot a pse nova instead of a hoyt pro comp? Are you kidding me!

15 years ago or so everyone complained about how bows were too loud, too long, too slow and had to put some type of rubber on them to quiet them down. Todays bows are just the opposite and to get them that way changes had to be made to the bow to get them that way, longer risers, parallel limbs and shorter limbs. Stiffer, longer risers had to be made to hold up to the new technology compared to the older bows and with that came a different look. I actually like the look of new bows, the only thing I don't like is the price of them today.
