Hey at, so im setting up a stand today in a pine tree, as im about 10 feet up just trimmimg some branches and a yellow jacket starts flying around me. I immediatley unclip my carabener and climb down amd sure enough 6 or 7 started landing on the strap i tied up in the tree. Im not sure if theres a small nest up there but i lf there is its gotta ne way up there but i wont be able to reach it. How do i fix this problem, its a fairly small spot on a game
trail and im tempted to spray a bunch of raid all over the tree. But im not sure if thats gonna spook the deer of they smell a chemical or keep the yellowkackets away. Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful

I would take wasp spray and give em heck. If you can't hunt it cuz of the yellow jackets then it doesn't matter if the deer smell it.

Yellowjackets build their nest in the ground typically not in the tree. What I have found to be the most useful way to deal with them is leave the stand there and pick it up once the first few freezes have killed them mostly off. Sorry not much help but I hate them demonic *******s.

I believe they will be dormant come fall when your season starts. My buddy had the same issue here in Michigan. I would personally leave them alone and they just won't be an issue by the time you need to hunt

Yellow jackets are a different creature. They will build a nest in the ground or up in a protected area like a wasp does. I've seen a couple of huge yellow jacket nests up under a roof on a shed. Is there a hollow spot in that pine tree or a nearby tree? If so that very well may be where they are. If not they are more than likely in the ground. I would try to find the nest and spray them down with some wasp spray. Like stated if they run you off or the spray runs the deer off you got the same problem either way.

I have had some luck with spectracide and viennas. Make a nice meatloaf of spectracide and viennas and then place it close to your stand. Stay and watch. The yellow jackets will be on the viennas in seconds. They take this back to the nest and hopefully the queen gets all that she can hold.

did you trim any branches or scrape the pine cause that attracts them
