I'm looking to get a new set of hunting clothes, I'm up in Minnesota so I'm looking for a late season set up.

Ideally something with a hood, first-lite seemed to have a couple options, Sitka fanatic looks nice not sure about any other Sitka stuff that would be warm enough aside from the incinerator can't afford that.

I'm looking for pros-cons-and suggestions abut a late season Minnesota jacket and pants/bibs

Scent lok : recon thermal, cold blooded

Scentblocker: outfitter, alpha

Sitka: fanatic, fanatic lite?, any others?

First-lite: Woodbury?, north branch?, sanctuary, others?

Any other brands?

Thanks in advance,

Eric

Depends on what your doing, difference between sitting on a stand and stalking.
I did a good bit of research and asking questions. I am sitting on a stand in a tree. So I went with Predator Camo fleece and First Lite under layer

Sitka is much higher quality than the others on your list. You definitely pay for it, but you know how the saying goes. I just don't think you can go wrong with Sitka. I've been using it for years and the one time I had an issue, I had a brand-new coat on my doorstep in 24 hours.

Sitka Fanatic doesn't have a hood. I prefer no hood as I like to hear everything. First lite sanctuary does have a hood.
I can attest that the Fanatic suit is awesome...its been great for me in cold weather

Under armour , I have the rut jacket and so far I've gotten too warm.. hasn't been super cold but so far I like it. My girlfriend has the gunpowder jacket. Really likes that. If that info even helps haha

I don't know about the fanatic lite. I have the stratus set, fanatic jacket, the incinerator set, equinox pants, and fanatic hoody. I use the Stratus set the most unless it drops down below 40. Then I will put the fanatic jacket on with the stratus pants. I won't even bother putting on the incinerator bibs until it is below 20. I don't use the incinerator jacket unless it is snowing, raining, or in the single digits. Underneath I always use the heavy core bottoms, FL llano merino wool top, and fanatic hoody. If it really cold (below 0) I pack in the bibs and jacket wearing an extra of pair fleece bibs and my equinox pants, I may even put on a puffy vest for extra insulation. I can hunt in some very cold temps with that set up. Cant go wrong with the incinerator hat either.

Sitka higher quality than first lite? Id say they are on par with each other. For Minnesota I would get the sanctuary set up from first lite. Add some wool under it and you would be good to go. If you want layers to be more versitale get the Woodbury and cirrus puffy and some wool pieces to carry you through the season. I own the Woodbury and in 30 degree weather and lower I'd rather have the sanctuary but the Woodbury is still pretty warm.

Maybe in the 50s. The rut jacket is a horrible excuse for a cold weather jacket. Nothing more than a glorified fleece with no wind shear.

I've got the scent blocker alpha. It's awesome as far as pockets and it
Is wind proof. You have to layer with it though. I also had the under armour gunpowder I bought on here for $100 it was really warm but I sold it because it was always too small for me but I had got it for a good price. I bought the alpha as a replacement. It is not as warm but with the right layers underneath it works pretty well and is bow hunter friendly

I normally use fanatic with incinerator bibs in single digits.. I'm In MN also... if 0 or below I use all incinerator...

Hmm. Sat the other day in the low 30s And I was okay. Good to know though I'll try it out this year.

Any recommendations on good jackets and pants? That are not 500$ for eaCh...

I've used Sitka and First Lite for quite some time now, and by no means is Sitka above First Lite in quality. Not only do I use both their gear for hunting, but also for work. I am a field biologist who surveys headwaters and backcountry lakes, so my gear has to perform all day in crap weather. I am mainly wearing First Lites mid-layers such as the chama hoddy, I use Icebreakers Merino Wool base layers. I also love the First Lite Stormtight Rain jacket and pants, I think their material (coconaI think) is just as good as Gore-tex and breathes much better. From Sitka I love the Mountain Pant, with the built in knee pads and the durability they are lasting me along time, which is a testament to their durability as I crawl through some nasty stuff for work. This is my experience with these two companies and you can't go wrong with either, as I said, most ofmy experience is hunting out west and for work, where I move and cover ground a lot. As far as treestand hunting I would assume to just layer properly and you should be good to go.

I've got the Sitka Fanatic line. It's great. My biggest recommendation is make sure you have good base and insulating layers. My current setup is UA base map layers (these are getting replaced with wool layers for Xmas), one insulating Cabelas synthetic layer, Fanatic bibs, Fanatic vest, and Fanatic jacket. I never used a vest before, and I can't recommend it highly enough. It is such a good layer.

I got a Firstlite Sanctuary jacket last year. Hunted central Minnesota in the late season (snow and temps in the single digits). I would walk in about 1/3 of a mile and sit for about 10 minutes to cool down. After putting the Sanctuary jacket on I never got cold. In fact, I was amazed that I never even got a chill. It is very warm and cut well. If it came in fleece it would be a 10.

If you don't believe in scentlok or scentblocker technology or caring for it properly I would just go with sitka or firstlite. While scentlok's newer garments are really nice (the covert deluxe suit is a really, really nice suit) your money would be better spent with other brands. Sitka's use of newer fabrics and materials is, IMO, second to none.
