You can buy a tool to do it, but I normally use a pair of needle nosed pliers.
Get the clip in position, put the pliers on the clip and the opposite side of the axle.
Hold the clip in position with a finger then gently squeeze the clip on.
Just be careful otherwise the clip can 'ping' off around the room :BangHead:

EnglishKev is right. You can do it with pliers, but it is sooooooo much easier with the tool. Unfortunately, the tool seems much more expensive than it should be.

Be sure to pick up some spare clips. They are really easy to lose and nearly impossible to find, especially in a messy shop like mine. :)

Ok so im swapping cams on my bow i got the e clip off by tapping it with a small flat head screw driver but now not sure how to get back on

DIY e-clip removal and installation tool. Just a piece of aluminum angle, and then, use a round file to create a half moon shape, equal to the diameter of your axle. PUT your pointer fingertip on top of the axle, to hold down the e-clip. No flying e-clip this way. PUSH off the e-clip, and the half moon shape will stop around the axle. The e-clip is now off the axle, and still trapped under your fingertip. Same for re-installing the e-clip. LINE up the ears of the e-clip with the axle, and put your fingertip on top of the e-clip and the axle. Use the DIY tool to PUSH the backside of the e-clip and the e-clip will snap onto the axle.

I bought an e-clip tool and lost it, looked everywhere. So, I had to make a DIY tool. Lost the DIY tool, and had to make another one. Easy Peasy.

I had a bunch of 3/4" conduit brackets laying around and took a dremel and made a removal tool. Take one of those bags a newspaper comes and slide it over the cam and reach into it and remove the eclip. When/if it goes flying, it's in the bag. When I reinstall I put the bag back over it 'cause it's hard to center it or slip and it can go flying that way too. I take the eclip and gently set it where it needs to go, take needle nose pliers and put one side on the backbone of the eclip and the other on the bottom of the limb and gently squeeze. Usually pops right in. If I feel more pressure is needed and it might dig into my limb, I assess how my eclip is situated and a small adjustment usually gets it in line. Doesn't take a lot of pressure so don't mar and dig into your limb.

Just use 1/2 of a clothespin. Drill a half moon on either end and use that to get them off...and use the flat end for putting them back on. No chance of scratching your limbs.

I bought the tool and never used it

A removal and install tip: Put the limb in a plastic bag, I used a clear gallon freezer bag, use tool of your choice to remove or install, should it pop off, it ends up in the bag. Saves hours looking all over the shop/room for the clip.

Well a new problem.. my axcel wont go through all the way an the e clip wont go in the grove an i broke a e clip in the process

Did you go from plain black limbs to painted or camo? I did and had that problem. Didn't break my eclip but just touched up one side of a shim with sandpaper ever so slightly.

I went to NAPA to get new break pads and on a whim asked if they carried eclips. They pulled out a case with about 50 slots with different sizes. I found what I needed and they told me to take as many as I needed.

Yep - get a tool, get extra eclips to fit and use the plastic bag method. It can be frustrating if you don't have the right tools - not worth it.

What press you using? Or is it out of the press? What bow? If you have spacers between the cam and the limb they are not lined up properly to get the axle all the way through.
Using a ez press the bow is out of the press tho the axle is all the way in it just isn't enough to get a e clip on the slot

Read your other post. Either you actually do not have the axle all the way in(sometimes you need to tap the axle slightly with a hammer) or you need to squeeze the limbs togeather a little more. I know you said the cams were the same thickness but they could be very slightly different.
Where you at in Michigan, I've forgot.

Either you're not doing something right or you've changed something.

What bow are you using? Is it really close to going?
