I am looking at your guys opinions on the lightest weight small vane that fletches easily with out primers, and tons of prep. I like the flex fletch sk-200, and sk300. I think they are the lightest, but I tried fletching them myself, and they have came off a few times. When I get my arrows from south shore they stay put, but with my super glue, and jojan fletcher they dont stay put as well...lol When I fletch feathers they will not come off. Just looking for a vane comparable to the sk-200, sk-300 that is really lightweight and easily fletched without a ton of prep. Not really interested in blazer. I like the shield cut looking style better. Thanks for any recommendations.

The Flex-Fletch are designed as no-prep and suitable with Cyanoacrylates. Could it be your shaft prep? With super glue less is more, and acetones break down super glue so I would do a final wipe down with denatured alcohol [many rubbing alcohols have oils in them].

I usually wipe the arrow shaft, and base of the vane with alcohol. Then I use the loctite gel super glue. They seem to be attached good when done, but I have had a few come off when shooting....Never had one come off when fletched from south shore archery supply, but they do for me. I also use rayzr feathers and never had one of them come off. So I was just assuming the flex flech required more prep, or a different glue than I was using.

2" feathers, 1.5 grains each, I trim mine down with scissors to the height and shape I want. Fletch-tite has never let me down in over 40 years. I just wipe any oils off with acetone, lacquer thinner, carb cleaner or even Jack Daniels in a pinch!

To do the sk’s all you need is a clean shaft. I wipe the base of the vane with acetone, apply glue, and dip a q tip in accelerator wipe the shaft with accelerator. I press down on arrow firmly for 10 seconds or so. They stick on excellent this way.

Maybe the last batch I glued was with expired glue or something. I have never had a problem with any other vane or feather sticking, and staying put. I had gotten 6 arrows from south shore with sk-300 on them, and I had gotten different bare shaft arrows, and fletched them with sk-300. The ones I fletched a vane came off of 3 arrows. The 6 I got from south shore are all still holding fine.

Try using the accelerator and use some pressure. You won’t be able to pull them off with a pliers.

For me a quick wipe with Zing primer is not "a ton of prep". I use FFP-360 & SK-300 and have zero problems sticking. I have a Bitz fletcher. This is what I do.

Clean shaft with denatured alcohol.
Apply Zing primer to vane.
Apply AAE FastSet Gel sparingly to vane.
Place on shaft in jig -push done - count to 15.
Done. Can't pull them off with a pliers.

Second the Flex Fletch Zing primer pen, but I also use Zing glue....you can get them in a combo kit from Lancaster Archery. When I started using them is when my FF vanes stopped falling off, along with making sure I had good clamp pressure (holding the vane down for 10 seconds or so). I also use a JoJan jig.

I just fletched up some sk200 that do not require any prep. Flex fletch tweaked the formula and no longer requires all the zing products for proper adhesion. The memory is also better. Had a couple pass thrus on my bag target and with in 60 sec I couldn’t tell which arrows had gone thru. The new formula is definitely better! Better adhesion and much improved memory! Definitely the lightest vane that stays put for me! 6gns lighter than fusion 2.1.

I just finished fletching 2 Dz. X10 Pro Tours with FFP 200 Flex Fletch vanes & I have been using them since the 1970's
& like chugg said they have tweaked there formula a little over a year ago & the zing primer is no longer needed. I also use the loctite Ultragel Control super glue & they hold like iron. I have shot through more bales with the X10's because they are so small in diameter & use 120 gr. points so they are also heavy 365 grs.& yes wrinkle vanes but with in a short time they strighten out & are as good as new.

I bought some BE Rampage 250's from SSAS and had 1/2 doz made up with the SK300's and 1/2 doz with SK200's to give them a try. The very first arrow I shot blew through the target at the range and a vane came off. And the other two were so wrinkled up that I never would have used them that way. Some folks have said that they will return to shape, but they were still like that months later. I didn't find any added benefits to shooting the SK's so haven't used them since.

I have settled on the shield cut Q2i Fusion Xii 2.1" vanes as they fletch up easily with absolutely NO prep, stay on, and have worked very well for the past two years.

The new formula does not require the primer or any prep for that matter. Buy direct from flex fletch so you know it’s the new formula vanes with better memory and no prep.
