Hello all I have an opportunity to buy new from a well known retailer, the above mentioned bow for 300us .. I'm being told it's a good bow but was under marketed by carbon express. Has good specs good review from midwayusa but 1 bad review from Amazon. I can't find any other reviews. Thoughts welcome.

I've seen a few bad buyer reviews but have no first hand experience with this particular xbow. I very well could be a good xbow.

I will say that my first impression of it was less than positive. The string suppressors are an obvious add-on and look awkward with their long arms. And I'm not at all a fan of this style of forearm on a xbow. On a tactical weapon, well maybe.... Performance is not bad but pretty typical for a $300ish dollar xbow in today's market. The arrow retainer is old school and the color combination is.... different.

I'd much rather spend that kind of money on a Specialist 370. No questions on how good that xbow is and it's much more adjustable.

That's my 2 cents ;)

If you can shoot it, go do that and try to shoot a few other xbows with that price point.

Good luck!

In the $300 dollar range I would look at the Centerpoint sniper, $243.00 on ebay, the Centerpoint Specialist,$285.00 on ebay, or the new Killer Instinct Ripper 415, $350.00 on ebay.
ok.. with these level of bow's is it advantageous to get off ebay instead of lancaster (319.99 vs 285). is the little money saved worth the risk? also when looking at the specialist i also see the mercenary370 and the mercenary whisper 390? are those worth the same less extra? thanks for the help

There are some very good sellers on ebay, but always check their feedback. If there is to much bad feedback avoid them. United outdoors is one of the good ones and there are several others. None of the heavy volume sellers will have perfect 100% positive feedback because of all the knuckleheads they deal with, but they should be 99.5% or so. Also most ebay purchases are guaranteed to get your item or your money back. I would not be afraid to buy a bow off ebay at all, in fact I have bought several. Warranty work will be done by the manufacturer anyway, so on these cheaper crossbows I don't think there is any advantage to buy them from someone like Lancasters. But hey if you feel better buying from a reputable bow dealer there is nothing wrong with that. As far as the 370 and 390 Mercenary they are a pretty new bow from Crosman and there is not much info out there yet about them. I sure would not be afraid to buy that mercenary 390. I had one on watch for awhile, but ended up buying the Killer instinct Ripper 415. Hope this helps.

Word of caution. I work on all models of crossbows. Every Center Point I had come into the shop has had a broken limb. We don't sell or stock them as they are Chinese made. But we will gladly fix them. Again it is one of those you get what you pay for.

Uh oh. That's the first bad news I've heard about them. About how many would you say have come in with broken limbs?

I actually bought mine from bowhuntingoutlet. Got it for $299.99 and free ship, but they are not in stock until August 24th. They are connected to eders I think You have to be a member to get that price. I got lucky and caught a deal on free membership. I think its normally $25.00. I have see a few on Ebay but they last about as long as a fart in the wind

Reread may post, can't be much clearer, everyone.
In other words "all of them". That might be 1 or 2 bows or maybe 100 or 200 bows. Or it might be his imagination as he apparently has no real idea. Just a generic statement of "all of them".

I agree! The company that makes the risers & limbs makes them for just about all of those cheaper off brand crossbows along with PSE, Killer Instinct, Bear, Carbon Express, etc...

Exactly. Of course all the ones he sees come into the shop have broken limbs...that’s generally the reason people take bows to the shop...there’s something wrong with it.
