I just got the Cabela’s outfitter frame and can’t wait to try it out. I have hauled out many boned out deer with a Fieldline pack, though.

the best thing I've ever found for taking a deer out by yourself is an ice fishing sled.* skin the deer, quarter it put it in the sled.* they slide easy on dry leaves or snow.

I would rather bone or quarter an animal and get it on my back over dragging it any distance any day. Sleds or dragging don't work so well in the western Rockies.

Check out Alps outdoorz Commander for cheap, decent quality external frame pack. They range from $120-200 dollars, and for using a few times a year are great. I've packed moose, dall sheep, and caribou; not the best, nor the most comfortable pack on the market, but for a lot of weight, they are the best at that price point. They aren't much for still hunting in, as the frame catches and rattles and bangs too much, but thats the problem with any external frame pack.

I use a molle too. You will not believe what all you can carry on the frame with just tie down strap. Tree stands, 50 lb mineral blocks, quarters of deer. Most versatile thing I ever bought.
