The skilhunt H03 is an awesome headlamp. I can’t say that it is as good as any of the zebralights that I own, but for the money it is the best. Unless Zebralight comes out with something really amazing, I’ll be spending my cash on Skilhunt headlamps when I need them again. $29.99 is awesome! We have 4 of them in our household now, so everybody has one while fishing and hunting.

This headlamp runs on a 18650 lithium ion rechargeable battery also, and I think that’s the best size for weight, power, and run time. All of my AA and AAA battery headlamps are all back up headlamps anymore, they just can’t compare to the 18650. Anyways 18650 battery is the way to go.
Funny story, my buddy ordered one of the Skilhunt lights from Amazon. It shipped from China, of course, and took a little longer than expected to arrive. When he received the package, the flashlight was inside along with 1 unsmoked Chinese cigarette LOL!

Ozark Trail DT-200L...One i bought on here in the Classifieds some time ago...Its made in China, but, real dependable so far..

A light can do more than just shine a poor beam of light. If youre happy with junk thats not my business but the OP wants a great light. When I'm out tracking a buck thats leaving a poor blood trail I'll use a quality light that shows whats im looking at with higher clarity and color rendition.

Agreed

Had a post several weeks ago asking about very good headlamps. I went with some great advise and purchased the Fenix HL60r headlamp. I am extremely happy with this light................................... It is AWESOME!!!!

I have streamlight and surefire lights that are very good, but got a jet beam as a gift and was very surprised at how comparable it is to the others, and I really like the fact it runs on standard AA's with good life.

Thanks gentleman! I have lots of good lights to research now!
People laugh when I mention the Energizer Vizion headlamps, but I have had great luck with them. I have a 250 lumen model, and it’s very bright. They have models with more or less lumens depending on what you want. I’ve had headlamps from Petzl, Black Diamond, and Princeton Tec and the Energizer has been every bit as reliable. Hard to go wrong for $20.

Of the other “name brand” headlamps I’ve owned, the Petzl Tikka is my favorite. I prefer simplicity, I don’t want to have to tap through 12 different modes to get to what I want, and the Petzl Tikka is bombproof.

my streamlight enduro headlamp is the best $20 ive spent on lights. 3 AAA batteries, 3 brightness settings in flood, 3 in beam, and a choice of red or green leds also. plus its small. between deer hunting, duck hunting, coyote hunting, ice fishing, night musky fishing, that headlamp gets used hard. i love it. the #2 setting on flood is awesome for blood trailing

For a headlamp I recommend a Zebralight with a neutral tint or Hcri led that runs on AA batteries. Then pick up a 4 pack of Panasonic Eneloop AA batteries with a charger for about 20 bucks on amazon.

If for some reason all 4 of your rechargeable batteries are deadAA batteries can be found about anywhere.

Stream light microstream usb.

Never leave home without it.

I had the disposable battery style microstream before and they are good too. Has a hat clip for gutting deer or other times when you need to use both hands. Also has a high and low setting. I cup my hands around the light to cast a very slight amount of light onto trails in the dark when hunting.

I use ZebraLight for both headlamp and flashlight. They are both one battery CR123 models. I like the compactness of the small CR123 models and the aluminum bodies are extremely tough and lightweight. My headlamp is the neutral white Flood beam.......I absolutely love the flood for walking to/from stands and field dressing. My flashlight is the cool white normal beam for tracking and if I would do it again I would make that one also a neutral white for better blood view. The problem is ZebraLight is always discontinuing products (over 100) or products are out of stock and it seems they are phasing out CR123 models. If I would replace both I would probably look at the model Diesel79 recommended above but with the flood (H503w) and the SC53w for a flashlight. I have never tried a high CRI led but maybe would use those models instead for better at picking up blood?

I think the hcri is better. It makes the blood pop out a bit more. The cool colored leds kind of wash out colors I think. Just my opinion.

My HDS has a Nichia 219 led and it is really nice for tracking. Not the brightest, but one of the nicest tints I’ve seen.

I might have to look into one of the floody Zebralights. Sounds perfect.

Yep. Makes blood pop a bit better.

My go to light I keep in my fanny pack is a NEBO Red line that runs on AAA's and I keep a spare set with my. 250 lumen and small. I also keep a head lamp with a red screen on it for walking in. I just went with a NEBO but used to use a higher end unit, but just not bright enough. For tracking deer, I use those China 2000 lumen lights and a Riobi 18V hand held light. All of these might not be the best, but they work for me.
Ches.

I really like the $6 head lights. A few years back mine went into a strobe mode as I was walking out in the dark. My choice was to keep walking with the strobe or to remove the batteries and replace them to stop the strobing. I chose to keep walking because dropping the batteries in the leaves didn't sound like something that I wanted to do.

I have a hard time seeing blood so I am going to look into these hcri lights.

Many times I use the 1$ lights from w mart for walking into and out of the woods.

In for recommendations. Personally tired of these cheapo lights that flicker and go out in cold weather.

That's most likely a battery problem. If it's a AA or AAA dont use alkaline batteries. Use Energizer ultimate lithium or rechargeable eneloop nimh batteries.
