bowtech general set at 63 lbs

When I measure the axel to axel of my general the right measurement is 1/4 inch longer than the left. Should I be concerned? It shoots as it should but just curious on the thoughts of the group

Measured ATA wrong. Must set the limb bolts to MAXIMUM. When limb bolts are at MAXIMUM poundage, this is the ONE and ONLY time that the ATA will be correct. If you have a 70 lb bow, you DO know that the ATA will ONLY measure correct, when the bow limbs are at 70 lbs. If you set the limbs at 69 lbs, the ATA will be too long. If you set the limbs at 68 lbs, the ATA will be WRONG yet again. So, if you set the limbs at 63 lbs, the ATA will be REALLY wrong, for OBVIOUS reasons.

You have a RIGHT handed bow. The cable guard is on the RIGHT, for OBVIOUS reasons. The cable guard is on the RIGHT for a RIGHT handed bow, because the cable guard pulls the cables to the RIGHT at full draw. So, this means, the top axle will ROTATE clockwise, at full draw, when the cables are SUPER tight. So, cuz the top axle spins CLOCKWISE, we WANT the right yoke leg LONGER on purpose at brace height. BUT BUT BUT, this means the cam PRE _LEAN is counter-clockwise LEFT at brace. Yup. UH HUH. Cuz, with COUNTER-clockwise PRE-LEAN at brace height, then, the cam on the TOP axle, will ROTATE clockwise to VERTICAL at full draw. That's why the RIGHT yoke leg is always LONGER at brace.

BUT BUT BUT, how do I know if the RIGHT yoke leg at 1/4-inch is TOO short or TOO LONG? Simple. Use a ruler. You have 12 rulers in your bow case. Use your "ruler" like this, at brace height.

No tape measures. Actually, THROW away the tape measure, cuz it will only confuse you.



PINCh your "ruler" tight to the LEFT side of the top cam. Slide your "ruler" up or down, until the field point on your "RULER" is at the same height as the d-loop. Like this.



If the point on your "ruler" is 1/16th inch to the RIGHT of the center serving, then, your RIGHT yoke leg length is PERFECT.
 
But BUT but, is 1/4-inch too long or too short? If the right yoke leg is too SHORT, the point of the arrow will swing too far left.
If the RIGHT yoke leg is too LONG, the point of the arrow will swing too far RIGHT.
BUT, how do I know how much the point shoulder swing right of the right hand edge of the center serving? Look at this photo. THIS much is about perfect.

 
BUT, another thing. What if I get a right tear, when my POINT of my ruler looks like this?



Fix your form, fix your bow hand grip technique. LEAVE right yoke leg alone.
But, I was measured for my draw length. If you get a MASSIVE left tear, then, go shorter on DL. BUT, I was measured!
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Post a form photo if you get a LEFT tear that will not go away.
 
thanks nuts and bolts. I measured with my "tool" and it looks good. But yes I do get a right tear. Must be me huh?
...without seeing anything else indicative of tuning attempts, your rest centershot or fletching contact could also be culprits. As stated previously, a head-to-toe picture at full draw with a level arrow would aid in troubleshooting to alleviate possible DL, grip and form issues. :thumbs_up
