Been doing some reading and trying ti figure out which arrow and insert/outsert combo is best. Looking at BE Deep Impacts, VAP TKO as possible arrows. I read something about Ethics inserts. I know there are issues with the arrow snapping at the outsert. I also thought about
BE Rampage arrows if I didn’t go with the .166.

Any info on what’s out there and works

I shoot VictoryVaps..140 glue in target point and use the goldTip outsert system for B.H!s which come is at around 142 - 143 grain with a 100 grn screw in tip. GT system is pretty strong, never had a issue with bent or broken parts.I know people disagree but for lower poundage I feel the skinny,s penetrate better. same energy behind a smaller point.

So, I shoot Easton Injections for a hunting shaft. I've had good luck with them so far. Just some of things to think about.....

1) Don't get all tied up in the extreme FoC stuff. It's not needed.

2) Don't think about "better penetration" with a .166 shaft. Whatever shaft you shoot will be following a 1" or greater broadhead so there is no real advantage.

3) Wind drift will technically be better with a .166 but I don't think it will be noticeable under normal conditions.

I have been using GT Premier Platinums since 2017 killed a bunch of deer with them using 2 arrows only clean check for damage and use again. The insert/outsert requires alittle extra work for fixed blade Broadheads to get them to spin true. So far I’m very happy with them their very durable like most of the .166 shafts out there.

Victory VAP Elite 300 Spine - V1 - Victory Stainless Steal Outserts and IRON Will wide 100s. 460 grains and 18.75% FOC. Great combo for me.

Victory VAP TKOs + TL SS shok outsert (75 gr.) + choice of broadhead = durability, accuracy, and lethal.

Where I shoot, there are at least 10-15 folks shooting this combination into carpet bales with 2"x4" frames every weekend. Occasionally someone will choke a shot and have to chisel the arrow from the frame. The new Shok TL SS, with the greater shaft coverage, has shown to be a significant upgrade in preventing damage to the shaft and the outsert. The only TL SS outsert I have seen bent so far was from striking a nail in the frame at an angle. Even this bend was very slight and barely observable when spinning the arrow. On average I would say I witness this arrow combination being shot 500- 1000 times a weekend.

I shoot x-impacts my brother shoots deep impacts never a issue with these shafts and I love the focos system for added weight, the outsert is held to a glued in pin with a screw that I put a little blue thread lock on, if you damage (which I have never had happen) you can change the outsert, great arrows great system

Yes! Yes! Yes!
I don't understand why people would buy anything else the shok outsert is awesome. Nothing is even half as good as this option with the 90 degree carbon weave. Throw your Easton crap away

I’ve played around with a few different .166 offerings. Easton Carbon Injexions, Victory VAP, and the new Carbon Express Triad. All shot with 100gr heads. The VAPS have the stainless outserts, Eastons with the Titanium outsert, and the Triad with their outsert system. The VAPS are the lightest of the three and the other two are within a few grains of each other.

I prefer a heavier gpi shaft, so the Eastons will win out for me.

The brand new vap SS which is a stainless steel an carbon weave is more GPI. I threw away my notes from my archery shop but I think they will be available in 2 weeks or so

I didn't mention the VAP SS because I did not want to tease the OP with an arrow that is not currently available. But they are sweet; a great balance between the VAP TKO and the Xtorsion. I suspect the VAP SS is going to be a big hit.

OP don't be in a big rush and go check these out; these are the only arrows I have shot that I would consider for replacing my VAP TKOs.

Easton Carbon Injexion 330s with Firenock outserts put on with Bohning Hotmelt, plus I install the factory D-6 inserts in the stock location for additional shaft reinforcing as well as 22 gr of FOC improvement. Been shooting these since 2013 when they came out and find they are really tough whether practicing or hunting big game in the mountains. Easy to heat and rotate the Firenock outsert to get a perfect spin too. Good luck!

Brian Call has a pretty good video with the owner of Valkyrie that might be worth a watch. Way too much physics for me to understand but I do run my Valkyrie's on Victory VAP's and they hit like a sledge hammer. Shooting same bow with 204's and .166" arrows side by side at Easton Archery center, the 166' diameter with.175 gr target points was burying into the target to the fletchings. Total weight on that set up is 524 gr. My 204" diameter at 475 was sticking half way out of the target. Figure translate that into animal penetration and it was a no brainer. Just an FYI, I missed once when dialing it in on that 524 grain and it blew through the front ½" plywood on the front of the stand and came half way out the second piece of ½" plywood. Had to use pliers and a hammer to get the arrow out. Mighty expensive miss.
