I am currently thinking about upgrading my bow arsenal.
Lately, I have been shooting my PSE Ferocity, and quite successful. The only problem is the camo. As I learned after the purchase, most 3D tournaments here explicitly forbid camo bows. And there is that itching, you know ...
Being not quite a hulk, I shoot about 55lbs at appr. 27" DL. I seem to get along better with lighter bows (below 4lbs). And, I am one of the "underprivileged" left-handed shooters. Not much shops here to try bows at all, and only one (almost 100mi away) that has one or two LH model to try (entry level, PSE Stinger, Bear Cruizer).

I currently consider the following bows:
- BT Carbon Icon
- Diamond Deploy
- BT Convergence
- PSE Drive 3B

The Carbon Icon and the Deploy are almost identical, AFAIK. Only the Deploy seems not to have the comfort/performance choice (flip disc). The specs. suggest the Deploy is basically identical with the Carbon Icon in performance mode.
The thing is - I don't really need the very low weight (3,2lbs), and the associated extra costs seem a bit of a waste to me. And the Deploy comes only as package, whith (IMHO) very mediocre components.

The Convergence seems ok, but a bit on the heavier side. And I have seen some people critisize the plastic parts on the cams.

The Drive has good reviews as well, but I'm not sure if it is really an update to the Ferocity.
The PSE Brute NXT sounds also nice, but drops out, because there are no non-camo color options ;-(

What are your experiences with this bows ?
Also the less favourable ones...

BTW, being located in Europe, each one of the bows would take at least 8 weeks for delivery at the moment. I am not in a rush.

The icon and deploy are entry level bows the Contingency is up end. The Brute is more mid range.
Don't forget about Hoyt and Mathews. Don't limit yourself. Being left handed is sometimes a pain. But remember this left handed shooters are the choosen few, they literally shoot on the right side of the bow in their right mind!
I am through and through left handed. What I do is take a right handed bow set my draw and set it to 45 or 50 pounds to shoot it right handed just to get a feel for the bow, never failed me yet to find the one I want to order.

I checked them.
Mathews bows are generally too heavy for me. Just don't want to carry that much weight around with me in the woods. Besides of the price, most Mathews bows have a fixed draw length (modules) - virtually unsalable for me ...
Hoyt has technically comparable bows (Torrex, Nitrux), at a considerable surcharge - at least here.

I thought about that as well.
Last time I was checking shops, I asked to get one of my bows accepted as payment. Which they are very relunctant about, understandably enough. Even at a large discount, LH bows are an incredibly hard sell ...

I cannot convince myself to invest into a flagship bow. The fun factor is still the greatest motivation for me.
Had a club 3D tournament this weekend were I defeated a hard-driving guy, with his bow (Mathews TRX) being three times as expensive as mine. And the best compound shooter had a Infinite Edge Pro.
My point - it is much more about the archer. You cannot buy points that easily.

My family owns 4 pse's because they all came at very good prices. Two of them are drives and one is a ferocity. From shooting all three, the ferocity has a larger valley and feels like higher letoff. With that being said, they all seem to be as accurate as I am and I haven't had a problem with any of them.

I think I didn't say, but I definitely going to keep my Ferocity.

Shooting 3D means light arrows, at least for me. With 55lbs and 27", I get about 270fps (light arrows, 450 spine, 70gn tips, about 270gn total).
I'd like to have a setup suitable for hunting, even if it's currently not legal here. Just in case ...

The Brute NXT IS a Ferocity, exact same bow, but the drilled more holes in the cams so you have more of a draw length range. Those are nice bows, they will shoot every bit as good as you do. I personally suggest waiting until 2021s drop if you have the itch.

So that's why thy dropped the Ferocity ...
Anyway, I couldn't get a Brute in anything but camo, so it's not on my list. Neither is the Unleashed, which is only RH. I feel discriminated ... :rolleyes:

But I have patience, yes.
Perhaps a nice discount for a discontinued model...

...and the Unleashed is discontinued after this year since the Drury team went to Mathews. Why are you looking specifically at bows geared towards hunting to use for competition? The price tag? Again I highly suggest waiting until the 2021s fully drop if this is the bow you are looking for.

If you can't wait, take a very hard look at the Drive XL, it's the exact same bow as the Centrix but in 60#/70# peak weights, $50 cheaper, has a rubber overgrip instead of the hard plastic one, you can get it in 75% mods just like the Centrix if you want, and you can get it in black.

Better yet, if you're on a budget, get a Stinger Max and immediately put new strings on the bow. If you are only shooting 55# max you could get the 3DSA version with a limb stop too. That Stinger can shoot really, really well with a good set of threads on it... don't let it fool you. But if you ask me, it would be a downgrade from your Ferocity.

I understand "competition" as target bow.
This is not my thing. For competition, I shoot 3D only, not FITA (and not indoors). These bows are heavy by it's own, and even heavier with all the stabilizers to counter the top-heaviness. Not to mention, those target bows look like WWI military field radio stations. 3D means about 20 per cent altitude difference (at least here in my region), and moving through dense undergrowth.

I am not sure if the Drive 3B/XL would be noticable upgrade to the Ferocity.
The alternative would be a paint job ...
BTW, I really like the field service feature of the Ferocity. Just wind the limb bolts down, and the string gets slack.
