Im thinking about getting into some new bibs... maybe even the whole get-up. I have used Cabelas fleece pants now for 5 or 6 years but I hate that the zipper isnt very high and they ALWAYS pull my pants up as im putting them on. And theyre kind of bulky.

Has anyone tried the "Hot Shot" brand from Amazn?? Great Reviews... It makes me want to try them?

I am in MN so I want something warm or that can at least be layered under. Just curious everyones opinions of bibs and/or bibs and jacket combo that you really like? Im always looking for a good buy, but Im interested in Sitka, etc. if you truly think its worth it.

Thanks

Sitka fanatic, worth the money. The pocket layout is great and. Sat comfortably in -10 degrees with 15mph winds.

BPS bone dry, pack tighter than Fanatics, not quite as warm. Decent for the price.

I have a couple pairs of older insulated bibs, but a year ago was looking for something fairly lightweight for the rut which can be either brutally cold or even mild....depending on the particular year. Especially so last year since I spent the first week of November out of state on a hunt to the west. After looking over a wide variety, I opted for a pair of Hot Shot in Realtree Edge. They worked out well as temps varied that week away from a low of around 26* to the upper 70's one afternoon. I have personally resisted camo that cost more than my bow and remained warm and functional.

I'm not really a brand !hore at all, but after convincing myself to pony up for a fanatic bib and jacket I now have a stratus set too along with a bunch of other complementing stuff. I hate being out all day and not being comfortable. Just tends to take away some of the enjoyment out of the experience. The right tool for the job I always say is invaluable.

Cabèlas wooltimate line of camo is pretty darn warm and doesn't break. The bank,Sitka stuff is awesome if you have a ton of money to,spend.

depends on how you hunt....you've heard a few endorsements for the fanatic, it really is hard to beat if you hunt primarily from a stand. I'd throw an endorsement for the Arctic Shield Insulator Suit (ASIS)...the entire suit packs as well as the fanatic bibs, but it's an entire suit, windproof, waterproof...I have used the HBS for many, many years, probably close to 25 and never thought I'd move away. I gave the ASIS a try and was amazed, just as warm as the HBS, lighter, waterproof, windproof, and much less expensive. When I strictly hunted with a vertical bow, the suits like HBS, ASIS, IWOM, Warmbag, etc...all offered me the opportunity to wear less layers/bulk, which helps tremendously when getting to and from stand sites and drawing your bow. As I've began to bounce back and forth between my Prime and my Ravin, the drawing of the bow isn't a consistent concern.

The bottom line, if you're seeking clothing with the sole purpose of keeping you in the game when conditions are driving many others in, you would do yourself a favor in looking into the ASIS.

If you're set on bibs, I haven't had any better than the fanatic.

We really like these at our house for our kids

I got the Hot Shot ones , they were pretty cheep but did a great job.

Normally walked to the place I would set up shop and then put my bibs on because they were to hot to walk in with. ( They do have zippers so you can put them on while wearing boots)

They have a coat that goes with them , 2 layer that can be separated.

I took the outside part off because the inside part was plenty enough for the late season NW Pa mornings that were < 10°

If you're in MN and area stand hunting I'd highly recommend midway bibs... either Elk Fork or I really like the MacKenzie mountain. They're thick and you wouldn't want to walk very far in them and you have to be cozier if the jacket will impact your shooting but for stand hunting late season in Ohio I've never been chilled. I use elk fork coveralls for mid season without issue at all. Midway certainly isn't sitka but on clearance at the end of the season they're a really good value.

The hot shot stuff burns me up, but I'm down south so our winters can't touch where you're at. It's survived all these nasty thickets & tree climbing. 90% of the time I'm in nomad, but when it gets brutal I break out the hot shot.
