Re-fletching is fun for me and I will admit I do have to put a new vane on arrows more frequently than I would like. This is due to penetration on a target, not enough glue when initially fletching, either hitting another arrow or rail or rest occasionally when I do not get the nock right. Buying the equipment is expensive so you have to want it.

Locally it runs about one dollar per vane to refletch arrows, which is reasonable as far as I'm concerned, but I've been planning to refletch my carbon shafts with turkey feathers and experiment with various styles.
Unfortunately the wild turkey tale feathers I ordered from china may have gotten caught up in customs. I'm begining to suspect they will never arrive though tracking says they reached the USA.

I had excellent results with a two vaned spiral fletching using turkey feathers on the first arrows I ever made. Mine were much like what they call the South Eastern or Cherokee style.

Roll yer own don't have to cost a ton.
The Grayling jig comes with a crossbow adapter and is my go-to jig. Like it better than my Bitzenberger or DeCut jigs.
Get some vanes or feathers, generic super glue and yer all set.
This vendor lets you choose different colors to make up 100. Last time I ordered I got 66 fluorescent orange and 34 fluorescent yellow to make up my order for 100.

When I was younger, and the kids were home, I did all our vertical bow repairs as the close archery pro shop was over 100 miles from us. Now that the kids are grown, I think I will start buying the items needed to repair and maintain my crossbow.

Tail feathers are not what’s used for fletching. You need wing feathers. I save the right wing feathers from turkeys I arrow and fletch with them, just did a half dozen this week.

Then you want a quality jig imo firenock or vanemaster pro also a quality indexing tool if your only doing a couple dozen probky not worth the investment

Do I re-fletch my arrows or save them up to send to be re-fletched. I have re-fletched before but no longer have the equipment. ---Tony
Simple answer, either buy another fletcher or borrow one and do it yourself. Otherwise, looks like you will have to make a trip to an archery shop. Personally, I build and re-fletch my own arrow.

I recently watched a couple of YouTube videos on the Vanemaster Pro, which was the first time I saw the Vanemaster Pro.
I had always thought that Firenock equipment was first class, so I will have to look again at his jig. I'll also look at the Firenock indexing tool.
When it's all said and done, I will have to purchase all the tools necessary to maintain my crossbow. The closest Pro shop to me is a hundred miles away. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a lot of money, but I have the money necessary to buy quality equipment, especially when that equipment is shoulder-held and my face rest against it. Thanks for the information, WWB.

I'm sure wing feathers are more durable but I'm going by a primitive tail feather two fletch method a member of another board has had a lot of success with.
I can PM you a link to that board and thread if you like.
