Do I re-fletch my arrows or save them up to send to be re-fletched. I have re-fletched before but no longer have the equipment. ---Tony
Tail feathers are not what’s used for fletching. You need wing feathers. I save the right wing feathers from turkeys I arrow and fletch with them, just did a half dozen this week.Locally it runs about one dollar per vane to refletch arrows, which is reasonable as far as I'm concerned, but I've been planning to refletch my carbon shafts with turkey feathers and experiment with various styles.
Unfortunately the wild turkey tale feathers I ordered from china may have gotten caught up in customs. I'm begining to suspect they will never arrive though tracking says they reached the USA.
I had excellent results with a two vaned spiral fletching using turkey feathers on the first arrows I ever made. Mine were much like what they call the South Eastern or Cherokee style.
Indexing and re-fletching.Depends if you want the just refletched or do you want the indexed for better precision and refletched.
Simple answer, either buy another fletcher or borrow one and do it yourself. Otherwise, looks like you will have to make a trip to an archery shop. Personally, I build and re-fletch my own arrow.Do I re-fletch my arrows or save them up to send to be re-fletched. I have re-fletched before but no longer have the equipment. ---Tony
I recently watched a couple of YouTube videos on the Vanemaster Pro, which was the first time I saw the Vanemaster Pro.Then you want a quality jig imo firenock or vanemaster pro also a quality indexing tool if your only doing a couple dozen probky not worth the investment
I'm sure wing feathers are more durable but I'm going by a primitive tail feather two fletch method a member of another board has had a lot of success with.Tail feathers are not what’s used for fletching.
