I guess you could call my hog arrow an adult arrow. It is the 2219 cut to 30 inches. It has three blazer vanes, factory nock, factory HIT insert and a 200 grain coc 2 blade fixed broadhead. With 197 grain field point, the taw is approx. 683 grains.
That's exactly my point...........I'm never the one to tell people what they should shoot........but I'm the one that sure tries to bring up the facts and offer my personal "opinion".............lol. I was spot on then.....I guessed about 670+ and you are at 683. :p

So if you want those heavy tough aluminums the 16, 17, 18 and 19 wall thickness arrows are the ticket. But for me with my 27.5 inch DL and DW they put me around the 210 FPS mark and offer more penetration than I need so for "me" they aren't my top pick.

I'm better served with the 14 & 15's and unless you hit a tree or get them stuck in game they are way tougher than people think. IMHO it's the 13 & 12's that gave the aluminums the bad rap but at the time the Ultralights were the only way to give people what they wanted....well that an the overdraw.

PS unless you group shoot and ding arrows I would put my 2135's up against many fat(er) shaft thin walled carbons for overall toughness. If you can live with the extra weight of the 16 & up they for SURE are tougher than many lightweight thin walled carbons.

Unless you bend aluminum arrows sideways (like how you flex a carbon) they are tough and that's not a normal thing if you shoot them properly.

yes, 13s the fall guy. i do use them on 900/600 target rounds but they are always in the target.. When Damage comes it's from arrow contact.

Here you go ahunter55.
This is arrow contact from the end at 20 yards.
Put on new QAD Ultra rest and replaced my 20 yard pin. This is my 2219 hog arrows. I was getting the bow sighted back in.

I have those same vanes on a set of arrows.

Wait a second! You guys can still find aluminum arrows? I gave up on my beloved 2117s because I couldn't find anyone who carries them any more! I would LOVE to get some more!

Just got some from Lancaster. 1 or 100, whatever you want.

I have a different bow but the same specs otherwise and am shooting 2018s. It’s one step below the 2117 but still a 400 spine. I like them for the weight and they are a little smaller diameter. I use them in my recurve as well so I only have to buy one type arrow for both. But a 2117 would be great as well and is a little stiffer, but at the same time lighter.

yes.. Thicker wall.

I built some light carbons to try late this season but all this talk is making me miss the ol' xx75's............lol
I did the Carbon thing 2 years. Arrowed 5 critters.4 of my 5 arrows penetrated out the other side but not into the ground.. I "expect" that "in the ground with my Aluminums". Was never satisfied with them for several reasons & was glad to go back.. These are 2 of the Carbon kills & both were double lungs but not into the ground.

I shoot the 340 spine, which is a 2315. I'm at 60 lbs, 29" draw, 125 gr heads. Flies very well for me. A bonus is that 340 spine is offered in the Gamegetter, so I shoot 3D (read: lose a bunch) and bang up the cheaper arrows and save my Camo Hunters for deer season.
