I think they are a great head. Tough , fly great, forgiving to a poor form moment and wind, 1.75 is a good cut and hole. Seems like lusks came sharp unlike some of my 2.0 I have now lack sharpness.

Cons for me if they are Sharp now that's great and good to hear but hopefully they all come sharp now. As I suck at sharping anything.

Other con is the pivot blades for me, yes I understand they are supposed to help with pentration but I shoot them for bigger holes and on exit mostly the exit are just one blade hole just like a two blade fixed.

Even with that pivot con for me. I personally think they still are the best mechanical out there. I have a lot of them and a few others I'll hunt with this year.

I've used all the SEVR heads but the 2.0 and have no complaints or failures! Looking forward to trying the 1.75 this year. My only complaint with them is getting the blades closed after deploying. Never had a deploying failure, or a single blade get stuck closed. They have always performed as advertised. Best mechanical on the market IMHO.

I hope they fixed the issue with the blades when in practice mode. The edge was exposed and would get dull so you still have to change blades if you shot them. It's not huge but it sure would be nice.

I used 1.5s last year. Nothing special about them IMO. I'm going back to Reapers
I've had good luck retrieving deer with the Reapers and they fly great but their mechanicals seem to be a one and done for me. Have you had experience being able to use the same Grim Reaper head on multiple deer?

I just started using a set and Im not impressed with the tips. Shot one right off the bat at 50yds. It buried in the dirt 2” below the target. Shot a feild point and it hit center target. (10x10” block) Shot another sevr in practice mode but aiming at the top of the target. This impacted center.
The arrow that buried in the dirt came out with the tip mangled. I can touch it up with a file but I was expecting better.

Heres the one shot into the target more than 20 times, the tips curling a little

Heres a brand new one I sharpied black so I dont shoot it

Im 50/50 impressed and not impressed. For the price I would expect better. Im sure if I hit a bone dead on the head will be toast. I have been shooting rocket steel heads and that supply is running out so looking for a replacement. Im gonna keep shooting these svrs and just file touch up the tip prior to the hunt season.

Not surprised. I bent one shooting it at a Rinehart 18-1.

I've had good luck too. I consider all mechanicals one and done, so I toss them. I think you can get a rebuild kit from GR, but it won't save you much $$

Simple design with the Sevr. Have never experienced any of them bending, not opening and staying open, not having two blade exits. If there was ever a "perfect" mechanical, this would be as close as I think one could imagine getting to it with the 1.75.

Same here. Not only is it not much of a savings if you buy new blades, but it is a big pain trying to clean all the dirt and blood out of them to get them to open and function properly. For that reason I just treat them all as one and done. Plus I'm usually only killing 2-4 big game animals at most a year so not like I'm burning through dozens at a time.

That's a decent point on the one and done. I haven't had enough experience with the Sevr heads to be bullish one way or the other. I have had several NAP Killzone's with the Trophy Tip I was able to use on multiple deer with just a little attention to the blades and tips. Obviously, you hit something hard and they're toast no matter what.

I had the same issue. Blades broke EVERYTIME I shot something with them. Now it's been a while since I used them so this may have been corrected but since finding the Sevrs I have absolutely no reason to change back

The new 1.75" head looks extremely nice, and the Lusk review was very impressive.
Let's hear from current SEVR 1.5" and 2" users, and your thoughts on the 1.75" diameter.
Share your experience both good and bad.

I may switch it up this year........................

Thanks.
I've killed right at 20 deer with the 1.5s and all but one went down pretty much in sight. The one that didn't went about 125 yards. It was a HARD quartering away shot where arrow was placed right in front of the rear leg and exited in front of the opposite front shoulder. Arrow remained in deer and I was actually shocked that the Sevr was sticking out of front leg. I was pretty much sold right then on their penetration claims (for a mechanical head) and continue to use them. The 1.75s are nice addition to the line and it seems that they have found the perfect blade angle (like on the 1.5) but I will still be using my 1.5s.
