I picked up my new Viking bow Thursday and finally finished getting it set up today. I own other Parker bows and have owned Hoyt bows along with others so I feel I can compare it and be objective. As I opened the box with anticipation and pulled the bow out of the package I noticed the tag hanging on the bow. It read 330+ FPS, 6 7/8" brace height, and 32" ATA. I thought to myself, I could have swore that it was supposed to be 30 and a fraction. I rechecked and some how the bow has grown to 32" ATA since I ordered it! Not a big deal, but still a surprise. On with the review. The finish of the bow is very good with only a very minute flaw in the side of the riser in the camo Vista G1 patten. I like the Premium Stone Mountain string and cable that I have had on my other Parker bows and have served me well. I hope this one does the same. I placed 2 string leeches on the string to stop any unwanted noise and adjusted the string stop to my liking. Mounted the QAD ultra rest on the bow with a level arrow and tied on a Gibbs super D loop. Put on the HHA DS5519 sight and zeroed in on the 20 yard target. After 4 to 5 shots it was zeroed. As I pulled the bow the first time I tried to notice any differences in the draw cycle. I did notice that the bow is very smooth and pulls heavy at first and then gets lighter at the end of the draw with a nice valley and rock solid wall. I mean ROCK solid! The Viking cam is very easy to adjust and no press is needed to lengthen or shorten the draw. After shooting at the 20 yard target I backed up to 60 yards to get it sighted in.
I couldn't help but notice how quiet this bow is. I shoot 2413 Easton xx75 aluminum arrows and I am sure this contributes to the bow being quite. On top of being very quiet it sealed to be dead in the hand. No jumping or lunging, just dead. Overall the bow is very quiet, fast and will do it's part if you do your part. The pictures that follow are of my 50 yard group after I sighted it in. Also in the picture of the limb bolt, that is not rust around the limb bolt. It is a lubricant from the factory to make the bolt easier to loosen or tighten if you choose to adjust it.
