My understanding is Tied score- higher number of twelves wins. Thats like two people playing golf, one shoots par on 18 holes other has some boggies and some birdies but ends up at par after 18.
According to ASA rules guy with more birdies when’s.
30 target ASA course, player A shoot 10 on 30 targets never misses scores 300.
Player B shoots 15 12s and 15 8s scores300 and wins because he had more12s. That’s ridiculously dumb.
If we go shoot bows and at the end of the day we score the same but you missed less than I did. You made less errors than I did, wouldn’t that be the winner. Person who made less errors and got a high score vs person who scored high but could have blanked and entire target still wins a tie breaker - doesn’t make sense .
Thanks for listening 😂

What are the rules for tied score? How is winner determined?
Pins 40 class.
I tied the other day in 30 pins class. Same score and same number of 12s.
But I dropped first points so I got second.

This is exactly how it is... They are rewarding the "risk"... If everyone "played safe" the scores would be lower and watching the "game" would be even less exciting.

hitting the twelve is the reward aiming at it. It’s not a bonus ring or a tie breaker like a”X”.
you shouldn’t get extra credit for Being risky during your game.
I see why many people avoid watching or participating any ASA event.

If its not a tie breaker then how are the ASA pro shoot offs decided on total bonus rings when score is tied? Same score and same bonus rings they shoot off. Those guys shoot great and the ASA probably wants to keep it close and add some drama for shoot offs. I get it. Their game, their rules. I Like it the way it is, but might want to see more risk added to the reward. But im not the king and dont make the rules.

Or is it that you just don’t like them being used as a tie breaker?

I’m with half bubble…. Tell me rules and I’ll shoot by them. Or, i will skip it if they bother me that much - Ya hear me IBO, people want KD north of the Mason Dixon line…LOL🙄🤐

1) The 12 IS a bonus ring. There is also a "risk" involved. It's easier to hit the center of concentric circles than when the small circle is offset.

2) The only reasons people avoid ASA, is distance to travel and the crowds!!!! (at least that's why I don't go to the national events)

3) The ASA is gonna survive just fine with out you and I not going to their events....

Lots of guys like me below the Mason Dixon would love to see known classes added to IBO. They are a Bowhunting organization but I don't know a single bowhunter who doesn't use a rangefinder in 2023.

As a fellow from SC who shoots more IBO than ASA, we really wish ASA would give us an unknown pins class again. I think we have a better chance than you, but we both may be just hoping for something that will never exist.

Oh, I'm fine with it lol. I'm just referring to other posters who stated the potential pitfalls of head shot activities. I believe most people with half a brain can understand it's a game with foam. And if the are offended, then they were too woke to even tolerate 3D archery and hunting in any form.

I dont know about woke/not woke and I could care less about that but when I see people start calling others "idiots" it solidifies one of the reasons people dont participate. Archery in general is competing with a host of other activities, when you let the public in at your shoot, this will happen. I dont disagree that its detrimental to the target, close the club off then.

If you go to a range and shoot “their” targets in the head. In this case I was referring to our personal targets, then you will be referred to by me as previously stated. I’d repeat that term but seems you are a little soft about it. Destroying someone’s targets is expensive and offensive. I’m not sure what is hard to understand about that.

Yea, what is soft is the veiled insults and not being able to disagree without throwing them about. Typical vernacular of the times and on this site. Carry on mate, the ignore button is an awesome option, I am using it right now.

I assume we are talking pros here? In that case - No slop shots. I would go the other way, keep it called and make every shot called… call any 12 and the 10 ring disappears so you get either a 12 or an 8.
Or just leave it alone as is?
Only the upper 12 callable. This leaves the lower 12 out play. U miss it is an 8.

I've never understood why they put 3 rings inside the 10 ring. One is only good if you call it and one means absolutely nothing.

I would be in favor of leaving the lower as 12, the upper a 12 if called and the center an 11. There's plenty of left over space around those 3 rings to only get a 10. Otherwise just keep the big 10 ring and only have one arbitrary ring inside as a 12.
I hate to admit this, but I have litterally lost sleep laying in bed and thinking, "What the hell kind of drugs was that dude on when he decided to smoosh a fistful of extra rings into the 10?!"

I think we need to stop calling upper 12's . After the scores this weekend it is
obvious these guys are hitting what they are trying to hit. I think if there is a ring on the
target it should be scored. Upper and lower 12's and the center ring 11. So what if you slop into a ring
the best shooters will still win. It would sure be a lot easier for people watching on TV.
Just my 2cents
I see a lot of uppers fall low on unknown.
