Is anyone else having problems with a slow Stratos?

I shoot the ASA circuit and the max speed is 280 +-3%. I have the 65# Stratos 36 with a 28.5 DL. Looking at the chart you will find I am on the shortest DL mod possible on the HBT 2 cam. My arrow is 357 gn GT XCutter and the chrono ready 266 FPS.

Alway dissed Mathews for only having one DL mods but looking like I might try one out. My Dad is shooting the Title 36 at 29” DL, 377 gn PS23, 56#, and shooting 282. (Shooting heavier arrow, shooting 9# lighter poundage, and gets max arrow speed)

Were these numbers taken by the same guy shooting the bows through the same chronograph???

Consumer grade chronos are very much suspect when it comes to speed readings... I KNOW for a fact that my chronograph has a "sweet spot". If my arrow goes through that sweet spot, I get good numbers... If it doesn't I'm 12-15 fps slow.

We were both in the same room, shooting the same time, he shot his and I shot mine.

I'd do it again with one guy shooting both bows. If he hit the sweet spot and you didn't you will see a significant difference in speed.

I don't have enough experience with the Stratos to know how close it runs to the rated numbers...

My thoughts were that I’m on the very bottom of the draw curve on the cam with my DL which is why it is so slow

Anecdotal, I know, but I get the impression that the HBT cams are pretty slow at the very bottom of the draw range. You are not the first person I have heard getting poor speeds from a HBT at the lower end of the DL range. I think the HBX on the hunting line is similar. At the top end, speeds are pretty good, but that's no help to you.

I shoot the Stratos 40 SVX in the middle of Cam 3 and speeds are very decent. Not Dominator Duo M2 cam fast, but 8-9 fps faster than TRX 40 fast. My Reckoning 29 Gen 2 on Performance was about 4fps faster than my Stratos SVX, but about the same amount slower on Comfort. I get the impression from the various speeds posted that the Mathews Title is about 5-6 fps faster than a TRX of the same brace height, so fast enough.

One of the reasons I love the SVX is the super smooth draw and approach to the wall, FWIW. It's much mellower and smoother than any bow I have ever shot that uses variable DL cams and reaches similar speeds. I really do think that DL specific mods offer some real advantages. I felt the same way when I shot Mathews TRXs. They were smooth and seemed just right at each let off, rather than feeling like the let off was being achieved by chopping off part of the valley. The feel of the valley is really good on bows with DL specific mods and speeds tends to be good or better.

UPDATE:

Mathews Title 36
28 DL
60.5#
357 gn arrow (same arrow)
286 FPS

Stratos 36
28.25 DL
65.8#
357 gn arrow
274 FPS

key notes: I shot both bows, same time, same place, same chrono, same arrow, same distance. Mathews is 5.3# lighter and shoots 12 FPS faster

He usually gains 5-7 feet going to 75 pounds over 65 pounds on the same bow. He has the number one cam and that would get you a little. You would gain another ten feet if you lowered your arrow weight to 325 to match 65 pounds.
