backing

  1. 1/8" Selfbow Backing

    I overtillered a hickory bow and need to add poundage to it. I don't want to use sinew, glass, or rawhide, but can't find 1/8" hickory or oak online. Do any bowyers have links to stores which sell this?

    If i use oak for a board bow and back it with linen or fabric, will i have to get the back down to one growth ring? If i dont, will it break? Just wondering because i have a piece of oak that i may not be able to get down to one ring.
