Hey All, Just started back to the hobby. Shot recurve a lot as a little kid but fast fwd 20 years and I just bought a whole compound setup for the first time... I've started to do some research on arrows and there is a LOT of information to say the least. 1) First off.. What exactly do I...

I’m considering a new set of X10 arrows and know that Easton have SS points in 80-100 or 100-120 gr. I will most likely end up at 100gr point weight so has anyone had real life experience with breaking the 120gr point down to 100gr vs 80-100 and leaving them full length? From the very limited...

Hey I just picked up a new recurve. 45# @28” and I’m wanting to figure out what arrow spine I need. Gonna build my own arrow most likely. I want to have 250-300 grains up front. 31” length. I’ll be overdrawing the bow about an inch or so. Will 400 or 350 be better?

Friend of mine is looking for a little arrow spine advice. His budget doesn't allow for total replacement as he just bought this dozen before last season. Hoyt Alpha max 35 63lb weight 29 or 29.5" draw (he's not sure) Easton FMJ 340 cut to 29" 100 gr rage I'm coming up with around 475 TAW He's...

Hi All, I just built some 5mm, 250 spine FMJ's. The VPA footers I ordered were wayyy too big, so I pulled out the calipers and measured the OD of the arrow shaft and ID of the footer. Turns out the arrow shafts are 0.267 OD, but they're listed as 0.290 OD in Easton's chart. Has anyone else...

Im working with a spine calculator to build my elk arrow for this year. There is an option to add overdraw. According to the pictures adding one inch of overdraw moves my arrow setup from slightly stiff, to optimal (see pictures). My question: Why would moving rest back 1 inch weaken the arrow...

New to recurves here. I picked up a Martin jaguar recurve about a year ago and I’m just starting to mess around with it. The bow is #45 @28in. My draw is 26.5”. I recently put on an nap centershot rest. I’m currently shooting my compound arrows out of it which I’m pretty sure are terribly...
  10. Bow Tuning
Hi, I'm trying to help a recurve archer at the club, but this issue is above my understanding (compound is pretty different in this regard, and that's all I know), so please help. So, this young archer, his form is OK as far as me and actual recurve coach can tell, been shooting for several...

I shoot a Vertix 29.5” DL 65# and am interested in the Easton hexx arrows. I’ve played around with the OT2 software and am having a hard time deciding on which spine to choose. Both of these images are with a 29” arrow because my local bow shop says he wouldn’t go lower than .5” below my DL(I’d...

Hi, I am new here and just getting into archery, so I am going to be asking some pretty stupid questions. Right now I am struggling with the whole 'spine' issue. I understand it fine in principle, but the devil is in the detail. For now, what I really want to know is, does 11/32 mean the arrow...

Hey guys recently picked up a VXR and a dozen of 300 spine match grade axis arrows cut at 27” with 150g at the front and an overall weight of around 465-470g. When I went to paper tune the bow at 62ish # it was tearing left. After moving the rest as far into the riser as possible it kept tearing...

I'm a 56 year old female and I'm getting back into archery after a few years away. In 2017 I purchased a Hoyt Horizon Pro 25 inch riser with SF Axiom Plus short 24 lb limbs. Shortly after purchasing the bow I injured by shoulder in a non-archery incident. Now that I'm getting back into it I'm...

So, I'm about to put together my first kit (shot a compound as a kid) and I've landed on an ILF setup with long limbs (6'2" with a 30" draw using the arm span method) from Lancaster. I plan on starting light. Somewhere in the mid-20s for draw weight. Now I need to choose my first set of...
