Guys, what are the best tacks that are actually reflective? I bought some over the summer. I marked a path with them. I can follow them, but it’s a little bit of a strain to see them in the dark. And I have to use white light now. I prefer to use a red/green, but no way would I ever see the ones I have now with red/green light.

I have bought the ones on wally world, they work fine for me. I do use a white light, I put them about knee high, less foliage to obscure seeing them at that hieght, My buddy puts them about a foott off the ground...

Try this, Hold your light up at eye level when looking for the tacks. They reflect best straight back at the light. I use a green streamlight and I can see them at 30 yards.

If you’re using the orange and white packs (I believe Allen brand), the orange do not reflect in red/green light very well, but do ok with white light. The white markers will light up with red light.

I've used several different brands and never had an issue with them reflecting. I have them marking trails through a nasty thick area of alder on the private land I hunt and they've been up for 5 years or so and are still bright and easy to see. i do put them at about eye level so they can catch the light straight on.

True story, brother and I were elk hunting in a new area. We were putting those reflective ties up on the way in. On the way out we werre having a hard time finding the next one. In fact one time we could not find them at all. My brother had one of them high dollar LED lights that shot a beam 10,000 miles(exaggeration there). I pulled out my 99 cent led light you buy at the counter of the farm store that has 6 little bulbs. Turned it on and poof, saw several and off we went...I use that all the time walking in and out in the dark, aimed down by my feet, with fingers over the lense and use as needed

I used to use the reflective twist ties Walmart sells but now use my phone to navigate most of the way. Still use a few twist ties near my stand to zero in on its location though.

Follow up to me original post, I will use these on private land when needed but I really try to avoid using them on public land. I don't want people seeing a nicely marked trail right to where i plan to hunt and I also don't like leaving potential trash in the woods. i will occasionally use them on public land if I have to navigate a particularly thick or confusing chunk of forest or if I need to mark a trail for a hunting partner that hasn't had the chance to see it for himself before his first walk in the dark. However even when I do use them on public I go minimal, don't start marking until off the road a ways, and attempt to pull as many as possible off the trees when done.

I bought 2 packs of these last year. Best I've ever used. Can see them from far away even
with a dim or off color light like red or green. The reflect from all angles & stick out better then
the standard flat tacks.

When I was young and use to **** hunt, i had fun moving other hunters tacks off in different directions , but the best of the best was the reflective bread ties that's not make anymore, easy to carry and won't poke you if you put them in your pocket.

I'm not sure which ones I use because I just get mine by going to a wildlife area parking area before dawn and fire up my flashlight. I just follow the dots and pull them as I go. When I get to whatever stand is at the end I climb it for my morning hunt and mark the spot on my gps.

This really works great since whoever put up the stand can't find his way in in the morning so my hunt isn't disturbed. And I find a lot of good hunting spots with very little effort. It's really a win, win, win.

Thanks to all for putting those tacks up!
