The bow I set the World Speed Record with was only 180# draw weight, shoot 588 fps. Have shot over 640 fps since then but not officially at a sanctioned event, the NAA is the sanctioning body, same organization that holds the Flight competitions.
The bow I set the World Regular FLight Record with was 195#, shooting a 14" arrow with razor blade fletchings, shot a distance of 1320 yards, 1 ft, and 3". You have to be online, they deduct distance for every degree, minute and second you are offline. They actually had to take the centerline pole down to measure a couple of my arrows, I was just a few seconds off of center.
That bow was smoking fast, about 640+ fps. Shot the bow 70 times, I didn't shoot

the last 2 arrows of my last end, I had the record, it was 120 degrees and I was getting tired. Didn't want to risk hurting myself just for fun!!!
Bare bow weighed over 10#, the riser was made of steel, the aluminum would break at over 185#.
Shoot thru riser with swivel grip on a independent arm, rest that actually drop down and the arrow comes up through the rest as you draw the bow. Built a bow with no cable rod in 1992, that was how I built the bow I set the flight record with, you don't want limb twist or side torque at 195#.
Things that are introduced as new ideas in the last 8years to present have been made for Flight bows since the 80's.
